Pho Le Do on East Hastings just tucked around Nanaimo.

One of my usual East Vancouver favourite pho joints in my old neighbourhood. As usual, I normally get a small #1 Pho Dac Biet and a glass of coke with lime and ice. My lady friend has a small #4 rare steak and beef balls noodle soup. We both shared the pork sausage spring roll which was alright at best. The pho is excellent as always and I have never been disappointed.

Mura or Maru sushi next to bubbleworld 9/10

decently price authentic japanese sushi that's almost on par with Hachi Sushi.
Since Yakko has changed their menu and started charging ridiculous prices, this place will be my next regular spot!

Irashai Sushi (Kerrisdale)

Ordered the following:
Nabeyaki Udon (they must've put a ton of sugar in there, it was really sweet)
Katsu Don (chewy pork)
BC Roll (they drench their sushi rice in teriyaki or unagi sauce, so it overpowered all the ingredients inside.)
Inari, Unagi (wife ate these, so I don't know)

Overall:
Was cruising around Kerrisdale looking for food and I found this semi-busy Japanese restaurant thinking it must be good. 5 minutes in, I already knew I made a mistake. Everyone eating inside were caucasians (sorry guys, but not many of you are very adventurous when it comes to food) and the waitresses and sushi chefs all spoke Cantonese. Anyhow, quite dissapointed with the food that was served. The food presentation was not bad, but it sure looked better than it tasted aside from the nabeyaki udon which looked and tasted nasty. Not planning to go back anytime soon.

Ngoc Nguyen Cafe
Vietnamese Cafe & Sandwiches
1299 Kingsway (just west of Knight)

This used to be the notorious Nguyen Cafeteria that was plastered in a full black tint all'round but has become the Ngoc Nguyen Cafe. My lady friend and I walked in expecting a full-blown Vietnamese gangster hangout but to our surprise, it was empty and the front was run by a middle aged husband and wife team. however, it lives up to the stereotype - on one wall is BBC News on the LCD. The other - gaudy/cheezy Vietnamese rave music.

Being a cafe and all, we didn't expect much from the menu. The menu is one-sided with maybe 6 or 7 food items and several drinks. Food items consisted of sandwiches, pho, some specialty noodle soup dish and such other northern Hanoi Vietnamese/Chinese dishes.

We both shared a deli meat Vietnamese sandwich which was toasty and well-made. The quality of the meats and spreads were really good and juicy. Awesome sandwich for $3.50. We also had each a bowl of pho - Hanoi style. Not your typical beef noodle soup consisting of sliced rare beef but this beef was just regular beef (rare) concentrated with lots of onions, green onions, cilantro and ginger. Broth was fresh and I don't think they make much of it so they probably make it fresh daily. Was pretty good and diferrent.

Coffee - wow. Amazing. A real caffeine kick and served properly. I haven't had such good Vienamese iced and hot coffee in a long time. Definitely worth trying out.

The utensils and tables/chairs are all new so this place is VERY clean. Service was great and the lady was very very friendly and accomodating. I'd recommend this place despite people who do smoke inside and lack of parking. I'd definitely go back. 8.5/10.

Campo Marina in Osoyoos. 7.5/10

Garlic Prawns and Crab Cakes were both reaaally good.
I had Fettuccini Supremo (scallops, smoked salmon, garlic, curry and cream) was pretty good, and my Fiance had chicken parmesean. Unfortunatly her chicken was dry and our waitress took forever to bring us drinks and our food. Haha had the manager come up and ask if our order had been taken.

Good place but an off night.

The Market (by Jean-Georges) at the Shangri-la hotel. It's located on the 3rd floor of the hotel. I was immediately blown away by the decor: modern and classy. This restaurant looks like it belongs in New York. There's a small cafe and lounge area as well. My bf and I opted for the 6-course meal. It's $65 and we felt that it was well worth it. Each and every dish was very savory. The waiters and waitresses gave us exceptional service.

KOBE 7/10

Expensive for what you get. Cool chef and entertaining to watch the food cook in front of your eyes. Steak wasn't that great but the seafood combination was really good. Decent meal but expensive. The place is also very crowded and small. Lots of eye candy waiters though.

Diamond Steak and Seafood in Osoyoos - 8.5/10

went for my dad's birthday

First started off with a drink
-Killer Koolaide - very good and tastes just like koolaide . Have a bunch of these and the alcohol will sneak up on you

had a salad to start with thier house dressing, its pretty much an italian dressing , very good though

for my entre i had thier diamond cut (14oz) prime rib served medium rare w/ a baked potato and broccoli. Perfectly cooked and the jus served with it was so tasty.

Shared desserts were a chocolate mousse cake and an apple pie. They took tarimisu off of thier menu so me and my fiance were pretty dissapointed about that. Chocolate mousse cake was good but nothing to blow you away and the apple pie i found the filling to be mushy and the crust soft.

All in all a very good dinner. Everyone had a good time and a good meal. Excellent service and would reccommend trying if your in osoyoos.

Market beats Morton's anyway. Been to Morton's many times and find nothing special about it. I would pick something like the Metropolitan Steakhouse in Seattle over Morton's any day. Market on the other hand, is more unique. The wine list is nothing to write home about though.

You should go try it out. Their sandwiches are pretty good and the coffee is kick-ass. Owners are super friendly.

well i read the reviews and most of them say that its not that good or sometimes bad but when i went there the steak was damn juicy and flavorful
maybe i might need to go there again to see if they're consistent

comparing hy's and morton's fillet mignon and bone in rib, hands down morton is way better
