Phenom phenh
7/10
Don't get the hype really lol
The butter beef had too much sauce, really sweet and it was kinda small for a 13$ plate, bo buc lac is ok, looks and taste homemade but the chicken wings were excellent, 8$ for the small plate was worth it, dipping sauce was good too, service sucked balls, had to flag down 3 waiters for a few napkins, couldn't even get tea refill lol Posted via RS Mobile |

Well Cafe (Richmond) - 8/10
The food was OKAY and i liked my drink though. I think this would be a good place for people to come chill though, since most BBT places are always packed and loud. This is near Twinkle 2 on Alexandra RD.
Ambiance is good, too. |

Kind of reminds me of a Hong Kong street food I had when I was a kid. Don't remember what it's called, so I wikied it:
Hong Kong style waffle, in Hong Kong called a "grid cake" or "grid biscuits" (格仔餅), is a waffle usually made and sold by street hawkers and eaten warm on the street.[12] It is similar to a traditional waffle but larger, round in shape and divided into four quarters. It is usually served as a snack. Butter, peanut butter and sugar are spread on one side of the cooked waffle, and then it is folded into a semicircle to eat. Eggs, sugar and evaporated milk are used in the waffle recipes, giving them a sweet flavor. They are generally soft and not dense. Traditional Hong Kong style waffles are full of the flavor of yolk.

Hapa Umi
We always seem to find something odd in our dishes everytime we come here.
Last time it was moldy raspberries in our dessert.
This time my wife found a 1 cm metallic strip in her pork belly.

Well Tea in Richmond. Only my second time eating at a place in Richmond, and it wasn't bad. Had the Pork sparerib with curry, and a mango slush bubble tea. Food seemed rather generic, but it was pretty filling, and service was decent. Food gave me the itis though :
7.5/10

The food at Well Tea is more or less your usual standard of Twanger / bubble tea style. Nothing particularly special or wow'ing. Service is okay in my experience. Just don't be a total dick when you use the buzzer on the table.

lol Earls...fucking worst western place ever. Ordered a chicken dish couple years ago. I counted a total of 5 thumb size pieces of chicken and the rest is mixed vegetable. Motherfucker had the balls to charge me 15 dollars for a semi-salad dish for entree. Never went back again.

Copy/paste of my review from the Dine Out thread.. Thought I should put this out there in case anyone's planning to come here for Dine Out, you'll know what to expect.
Went to Bistro Sakana in Yaletown.
Drinks are overpriced. Girlfriend ordered a cocktail, it was pretty much grapefruit juice and a shot of whatever sweet fruity liquor for $10.75
$38 gets you a miso soup, 4 pieces of sushi, 3 pieces of cheap tempura, a few slices of two different kinds of fish, and a green tea creme brulee.
Now the food was actually very good, but I'm not one for pretentious fancy foods. I was still very hungry afterwards. Seriously, after a ~$150 bill, it felt like I just ate a salad.
The girlfriend really liked the place and the food though. I guess this place was worth a try.
Will probably not go back.

Bodhi Choi Heung Vegetarian Restaurant
First time trying a chinese vegetarian restaurant in Vancouver. It's similiar to the ones in HK. Food looked good, colorful. Not too greasy. Nothing tastes bland or flavorless.
Only downside is the portions are a little bit small.

La Terrazza
Went with the gf for dinner and had the DineOut menu.
Appetizer: We got the pasta bolognaise and the crab cake. Both tasted good. I liked the little salad that came with the crab cake.
Entrees: We got the striploin and the arctic char. The steak was nothing special, but I liked the onions that was on top of the steak; it was sweet tasting. The char was good too, nothing too fancy
Dessert: We got the creme brule which is just your average thing and the cheesecake pastry thingy; again nothing too fancy.
I liked the food there but it was the service that got me a bit upset. Our main server was a bit rude to me and my gf and wasn't friendly in trying to answer some of our questions on the dishes on the menu. The other staff that brought us the food to our table were much nicer than our server. What annoyed me ever more was that they imposed a 15% gratuity surcharge too. I thought these surcharges were only for parties 6-8+ people; our table only was us 2. So in a way, I think that dick server of ours got away with a tip without earning it.
Dine out for 2 +1 beer +15% surcharge and tax = a little over $100.
Overall,
Food: 8/10 Food is good I gotta say
Service: 4/10 Unfriendly server
Atmosphere: 7/10 I like the decor, its kind of rustic yet modern
I might go back again, as long as I dont get that server again.

This is part of the problem with Dine Out.
When you go during Dine Out, servers, cooks, and other service staff are busy to the T. When you get a rash of customers come in demanding a 5 star Michelin meal + service, things go wrong. You have to compromise the quality of food and service.
You shouldn't let this experience dictate your intentions to ever go back. Take it with a grain of salt. The next time you go (if you do that is) kindly request to be seated somewhere else and that you get a different server.

And by the way, 3 Michelin stars is the max.
