Terrible service. Server was rude, slow, and unattentive. Never came back to check on us and forgot the beer that I ordered. Didn't refill our water either but I guess that's assumed if she never came back. Even crossed it off the hand-written bill and didn't so much as apologize for her mistake.
Food was average. Had certain expectations after reading Majin talk so highly about the place but wasn't as good as I expected. Ordered the calamari entree and I thought it was only OK. Gf had chicken souvlaki dinner and she enjoyed it. The tomatoes in the Greek salad were cut really big, lol. | Went yesterday. Plates were big.
Homous - 9/10
Lambo Soulvaki - 8/10
Chicken and Portabello - 7/10
I wanted to order the Kisamo Chicken but the server said it will take 40-45 minutes. Screw that.
For the food ordered, it's nothing special. I'd say Felico's is even better because it's not crammed.

Market by Jean George
For Dinner - Tasting Menu
6.5/10. Decent food but just not worth the price.

Otherwise, their appetizers/soups and entrees are of good value. I usually skip dessert and head over to Thierry.

Seasons in the Park - 9/10
Service was nice, view is unbeatable, my steak was a bit too dry and lean. Other than that, nice!!

Went to Boomers Drive In for a late lunch.
-rootbeer float
can't go wrong with that lol 10/10
-boomer burger
was just a mediocre burger with cheese, beats fast food burgers though 7/10
-deep fried mushrooms
pretty moist mushrooms, but not really anything special 7/10
Also had some of my buddy's waffle fries and those were pretty good
Would probably just come back for some waffle fries and a shake/float |

Insadong in Coquitlam
7.5/10
Went with two friends, had the 60$ BBQ set
Overall pretty good except the female server kept forgetting to give us extra sweet potatoes. Food was good overall, though I was expecting a bit better from the high reviews online.

Sushi Oyama 3/10
Ordered takeout: WAY TOO MUCH RICE on their sushi (reminds me of Nanaimo Sushi) and it was all hard. 80% of a piece of sushi was covered in rice. The sashimi did not even taste fresh and the Toro tasted/looked like regular Tuna.

Had kisamos a few nights ago. Got the roast lamb and the kisamos chicken. The chicken is overcooked and bland IMO. A little too lean and dry for my liking
Really enjoyed the roast lamb though, flavorful and smells great. Sides were good too
Service is average, unattentive but friendly

Risty's Cafe & Sushi Bar - I had one of their dinner boxes, Chicken Box which was only $7.25 and it comes with California Rolls (8/10), Tempura (9/10 - I like that they give you more vegetable then prawns which I personally like), Chicken Terriyaki (9/10 - Crispy skin and juicy meat), Miso Soup (typical), and Seaweed Salad (I never touch these).
Overall I like the experience, it's cheap but it's a solid 9/10. Really good and the servers are nice and attentive overall.

Service is average, unattentive but friendly | Went to Kisamos earlier tonight with 3 other people. We went straight for entrees consisting of lamb youvetsi, chicken souvlaki, calamari dinner and the meatball dinner (I forget the name.)
We all went in with expectations given the hype that surrounds it. Unfortunately, it did not deliver. Nothing stood out. We applaud them for the generous portions and the "home style" cooking but noticed a few flaws.
The Greek salad that comes with the youvetsi - the size of the vegetables were huge. Thick and large slices of tomato and cucumber - what? Ok. I can cut these up myself but please take care of what you serve your customers. I hate having to shovel food through my mouth. Nothing particularly special about it. Boring olive oil and spices used and feta cheese just dumped all over it.
The youvetsi - fuck. They sprinkled Kraft parmesan cheese? What the fuck is this? I get that this is a staple Greek dish but please don't take a dump on something you can be proud of. The lamb was nothing particularly special and tasted like something out of the freezer. I can't say I enjoyed this dish but if you are a meat eater, hey, this might be your dish. Not for me.
Food - I'm on the fence for this one. I can appreciate a home cooked meal but nothing stands out. Portions were very generous and the price reasonable. I was really hoping for a big "wow" factor and I love Mediterranean food. I'll give this a conservative 6/10. Don't listen to the 10/10 Best Greek Food Ever bullshit.
Service - Yeah. Unattentive but friendly. A meager 6/10. I recommend reservations on the weekends otherwise, be prepared to wait in line for what I consider run of the mill Greek cuisine. (Think Stephos.)
Value - As I said, generous portions of food for the price you pay. Stephos can suck a dick. 8/10.

Phnom Penh: first time here and i personally think its overated. This is the dishes we ordered:
1. Chicken wings (signature dish) 6/10: theres way better ones out there and i wouldn't need to drive all the way to chinatown for this. Nothing special, even my dad makes better chicken wings than them.
2. Butter beef: Don't know why there is such a hype on this dish. Its looks didn't look too apealing and it tasted worse when i tried it. I'm not even sure how clean it is (raw meat) 6/10 max (I have nothing against raw meat, i enjoy sashimi and raw beef on pho but i couldn't stand this dish)
3. Lemon grass chicken on rice: 6/10. I can get better ones all over greater Vancouver. The lemon grass chicken lacked taste. The portion was big tho hence the higher price ($9.5). Nothing special and you don't need to come this far to try this.
4. Mom had the beef brisket noodle which she said was not very good also. Too oily and lacked taste (nothing authentic tasting and looked like as if anyone without skills could have cooked it). 5/10
5. Fried rice cake with egg: Looked nice but also lacked taste even with the dipping sauce. 6/10 max
service: 6/10 (they spilt sauce all over my bro's jacket and it also got on another customers arm when the bowl fell and splattered all over the floor)
value: 6/10, can get better value elsewhere and better quality too
food: 5.9/10
Would I come back? sure but i woudn't wait around to eat at this overated place
To note, I'm asian and cantonese. When i looked around today, majority of its customers were english speaking chinese, and caucasians. Maybe they think its good?
I think i saw some rs'ers tonight too, not too sure tho
what do you guys think?

My family has been going here since the 80s and only in the last 5 years or so have I started to go back (to bring friends, my gf who have never been here). The wings are overrated (especially since I don't like to use the lemon pepper sauce); would rather stick to the Luc Lac rice and peashoot tips (comfort food items). The menu is by and large average at best (noodle soups are terrible).
I find it has been consistent from what I remember as a kid but Chinatown is getting ruined these days. I would continue to enjoy while you can before it's completely run over by hipsters/yuppies.
Brado 6/10
Large poutine. Fries were OK. Salty gravy and decent amount of cheese. Great filler and reasonably inexpensive. Very friendly old man. Pretty much everything else on the menu involves dunking in oil.
Taste of Paradise 6.5/10
Chicken shwarma. Ran out of lamb (daily special). Chicken was nicely seasoned but way overcooked. They press-grill with the wrapper on. I liked the sesame/homous spread added on. Friendly guy. Not bad but nothing memorable.
Bella Pizza on Hemlock 6.5/10
Probably the worse Bella Pizza location I've had (been to 3 so far). Overly chewy dough and acidic sauce. Good amount of toppings, however. $29 for 2 mediums on the expensive side for the quality.

Guu in DT Toronto behind Ryerson
Different daily menu, better than the Guu's in Vancouver. I guess they still need to work hard to draw the crowd.
Lobster sashimi salad 9/10
enoki scallop bacon wrap 7.5/10
different label Asahi Black - from UK??
I ate alone and the waitress asked me "is it your first time at Guu?"
"No."
I also had yakiudon but that's nothing special.

Pink Pearl
Yes, it's The Pink Pearl. They re-opened after a 2-3 year hiatus. I haven't been to this place for over 10 years. The nostalgia's kicking in, they have Push-Cart dimsum!!! Yeah that's right, the once near extinction fad is back. They actually have an a la carte tick/check menu since they provide you with the paper. Basically if you don't find something you want from the push carts you can order it.
I greatly miss the food cart dimsum scene. They even have those oldschool colourful jello with the tiny Umbrella on it, and the deep fried white-washed wonton with gwai-lo sauce.
The food is standard fare much like many other joints but they have a few different specials that's specific to them. The food is not too salty, the Siu Mai is REGULAR size not fist size. Food wise I'd rate it 7/10. As for service I'd rate it 7/10 as well (typical chinese joint) but, it's their first day so I don't know. The funny thing is, almost all the old workers are back.
Overall I'd rate this joint 7/10 but it has push-cart so I'd give it an 8.

Only reason for me to go back though is for their butter beef. Since it's one of those dishes I don't see very often (unless you count beef sashimi). Other than that, it's not worth the line up.

And possibly because the waits aren't for hours! Very comparable.

Kaboom Box
Salmon sandwich + poutine for $11
9/10 salmon sandwich was delish, though it was just a tiny bit overcooked, the slaw was very good.
poutine- small portion for 5 bucks, not enough gravy... the gravy was very tasty though!
would be back!
