My friend bought me dinner at this bbq place called Pig BBQ Joint in downtown Victoria. Had the pulled pork poutine. I'm not a big foodie, but dear laawd it was good . Generous amount of everything. Could have been a bit 'saucier', but overall thought it was pretty freakin' good for a fast food type of place. 9/10 would definitely go back again.

pictured came up to 27 dollars.
Roman's Burger Bar on West 4th.
Probably one of the best burgers I've had in this city in a while except for 5 guys.
A little pricey, but damn was the burger good.

Flying Pig
10/10
Had the special, Platter for Two, included bone marrow, braised short rib, mashed potatoes; halibut over a bed of squash and kale; tomato salad with spinach.
It was frikken amazing. Short ribs were soooo tender and tasted so yummy with the cheesy mashed potatoes. First time having bone marrow and it was yummy but very rich. The halibut was cooked perfectly, and the sauce had a little bit of a kick to it which just made it all the better. The veggies were great with the sauce. Salad was fresh. Yum. All paired with a glass of Pinot Grigio. Love.
Finished off with the maple sugar pie with vanilla ice cream. Deeeeelish!
Couldn't complain about the place too much. They were super busy, and we got put at the bar, but the service was awesome and the environment was great. Can't wait to go back!

RauDZ regional table - Kelowna
10/10
Damn amazing restaurant! Food, Service and ambience were all amazing.
Sat at the bar and the bartenders had great product knowledge of both drinks and the food menu.
drinks - my wife and I both tried the backyard lemonade, super tasty. Those will get you in trouble if your not careful.
appy - RauDZ poutine - was very tasty and had chicken confit on it as well. So many different appies I wanted.
Entre - My wife had the NY steak. WOW, suuper tender for a NY! Came with sour cream crushed potatoes, seasonal veg, peppercorn sauce and a blue cheese ravioli ontop.
I had their "butchers cut" of the night, which was a duck taster plate.
It was a seared spiced duck breast on top of roasted potatoes, wilted spinach, tomato, and green beans. Also came with a perfectly sous vide duck egg and the entire dish was sprinkled with duck cracklins.
Dessert - To full.... next time maybe
HIGHLY recommend stopping by RauDZ if you're ever in Kelowna and want a great dining experience! Maybe make a reso as they are a local hot spot if you dont want to wait for a table.
and a few pics to cap it off.....
back yard lemonade

Went to try out Red Wagon myself last week when my friend told me about it. The Lumberjack breakfast was epic. Pulled pork pancakes with JD syrup, bacon confit, two sunny side eggs and greasy as fuck hash and green onions. Not to mention the sour dough bread was drenched in butter.
Go to Red Wagon if you need a cure for anorexia.
8.5/10 Quote:

That was the gf's meal, crisp pork belly and cilantro sauce. It was interesting, actually really good.
I had the regular bacon/eggs/potatoes/toast. I'm boring when it comes to breakfast/brunch.
They had something on their menu called "pulled pork pancakes." Sounded interesting, but I wasn't feeling adventurous.
Food I'll give it a 8.5/10. Good portions, but nothing mindblowing. I guess you can only do so much with breakfast foods.
Service was good, servers were very nice and attentive. | |

Tried this new place, Cao Van (vietnamese sub), near where I live.
I've tried their bacon sandwich (no.1) & lemongrass chicken sandwich (no.6).
The guy making it said they're 11" long, pretty good 8/10. Made me go back a second time. I never ate any other vietnamese sub so can't really compare to other places.
Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic of their menu

| Peckinpah BBQ in Gastown 7/10
Pretty small place. Had "The Divorce" platter (half of everything) and it was good. The ribs weren't fall off the bone tender but that might actually be the style they are going for, the flavour was awesome though. Don't expect the service to be stellar or anything, despite how small the place is. The brunette server didn't seem the friendliest but did her job (hence the 7/10). Don't get the mystery can if you're drinking beer since it's a pretty cheap beer. Think Cariboo calibre.
Side note: I was seated facing another restaurant that was all decked out in stylish white decor and kept wondering what the hell it was. Found out it's called Secret Location. Totally looks like a pretty fancy pants pretentious type of place that you go to if you want to meet the Housewives of Vancouver or something. I'd probably have to save my money for a few months before I could afford it. Chill Winston 7/10
Nice place to bring impressionable young, girls on a first date. Food was good too and nice selection of drinks. Pricey though. The girl better be worth it. All the servers here must be required to shop at American Apparel since they all look like AA models--right down the the mysterious strange/hot Asian hostess with the scary makeup. Guilt & Co 8/10
This is a basement lounge right under Chill Winston that I only found out about while waiting for my table at Chill Winston. I don't get out much. I think they are different establishments but it's hard to tell when their food menu is pretty much the same. The ambiance was amazing though. There was an energy in the room and a good buzz going throughout the pretty cool looking place. This was pretty much hipster central and, I swear, the table in front of me had the live action cast of Captain Planet if they decided to make it with frail/skinny/good looking hipsters.

I went with one of my cousins from LA and my lady friend. All of our food, despite it being prepared fresh in front of us, was warm and got cold pretty quickly. I was a little disappointed at that and I will agree with the 7/10 overall rating.
I find that their style is rather different from most "BBQ" places in the Lower Mainland. I prefer their quality/cuts of meats over the competition. And yes to the flavour.
I kind of liked the brunette server. Her deadpan personality is hot.

LOL! Yeah, the food was warm when we got it but it got cold pretty quick since the window was open on a cold, rainy day. It probably gets smoky in there if the window isn't open but a chilly restaurant sure doesn't help with the overall experience. I came out smelling like BBQ anyways, did you?
I should mention that it was the pork ribs that weren't fall off the bone tender. The beef rib did fall off the bone.

Wendy's double bacon portabella mushroom melt. Wendy's stepped up their classic bacon mushroom melt. This thing was delicious and the bacon was crispy and the patties were thick. It was pure bliss. Fries at wendy's will always have my heart in a state of cardiac arrest.
