UBC Subway 4/10. First time they forgot to ask me if I wanted my sub toasted, and only gave me like 3 slices of cheese. |

if they're giving you 3 slices of cheese they're not just being cheap, they're actually making your sub wrong

Marcellos.
Nothings changed. Amazing Pizza and amazing creamed tomato/meat sauce pasta.
9/10.
could be 10 out of 10, if they actually went the fine dining route, but I guess they want to keep it family friendly.

Just came back from Sushi by Yuji with my wife! 6 dishes Omakase for $63..what a bargain..
Only two things I can pick on:
Sushi rice was a bit too soft.
The tuna for the sashimi plate was just okay (base on freshness) .
Everything else were excellent.
Sorry for the cellphone pictures:
Dish one:
Dish two: I ate some before taking this picture
Dish three: yep I ate one of the aji sushi (I think) before taking this picture..
Dish four:
The negitoro and the quail egg matched heavenly.
Then he asked me if he can make me more dishes.. so I said yes please. I want ONE MOAR!!!
Dish five:
Ice cream:
Go Now.. they were completely empty when we were there.
I will give 9/10 since there can be improvement with service and food.

went to sushi by yuji yesterday. i was the only customer there for an hour or so, so i had a lot of time to chat to eat and chat to yuji. he said lunch's are usually slow but it picks up at dinner time.
ordered mostly nigiri to test out the quality. the aji, saba and kohada were quite top notch for a small place.
tried engawa for the first time and enjoyed it. additionally, ordered a saba shiso roll, toro and a negitoro with egg to finish it off which were also quite well made. however, i found the toro to be bit oversized in comparison to the shari.
the pricing is quite reasonable considering the quality. kohada was the daily special for $1 which is unheard of in vancouver. goto kiriri and pay $3.50 or goto shima-ya and expect to pay $3. aji was $2 which is also reasonably low for a japanese restaurant. he said for pricing of sushi, he's not trying to gouge people but just pricing it around how much he gets it for roughly.
he's a really nice and personable guy. he use to work at kura for 3 years and shiro for a few more years. i believe he said he's worked at quite a few other japanese restaurants in vancouver before opening up his place as well (something like 5 or 6 other restaurants?).
overall, i'd give his place a 9/10. if i lived in the area, id probably be a regular but its a bit too far for me to go otherwise.

Splitz - 6/10 I found it comparable to your slightly above average burger joint. Lots of options for veggies and sauces though. Fries were semi decent. Posted via RS Mobile |

The rolls are pretty meh but decent selection for nigiri I tried to order quite a few different things to try, overall I give it an 8/10
Service could've been faster considering we were the only people there, and rarely checked up on us for tea
Maybe I will have to try omakase next time for the full experience

Went to Sushi by Yuji tonight. I had a very good experience there, ordered the omakase and sat at the bar. There were only 2 other people in the restaurant aside from my girlfriend and I. I sat at the bar and talked with Yuji, he use to have an AE86 and a R32 GTS-T in Japan haha.
Overall food was good, and service was pretty good tonight although a little slow when it came to refilling the tea. I would definitely go back again and he's open for lunch as well. Overall experience 9/10.

I think he's trying to sort out the waitress situation. I think I've seen maybe 2 or 3 different waitresses of the times I've been there. He definitely needs some time to get things going. Hopefully he figures it out sooner than later!

I went to Sushi by Yuji last week after reading WhiteVitz's review. The nigiri was good and very fresh, the rolls was ok. Overall, 8/10.
Yuji was very nice and even came to our table to ask if everything was ok, he asked me how I found out about his restaurant and I said a car forum Revscene, don't think he knew what I was talking about though lol! He said he's only been open for about 3 weeks and did not promote or advertise his restaurant except for his Facebook page.
