The service was pretty sparse with the owner (Terry) manning the front.. they have some pieces from Langley Air Museum, so it is interesting just to look around.
Had the Coal Stoker's burger (pulled pork + onion ring) + patty and fries.. and also the veggie pizza. The ribs are okay, they also have corn bread.. of course no where near Bonnie's.
Agreed. I eat a lot for a guy my size so gotta eat at this places to get a fill.
I usually order the medium party tray for myself at sushigarden. It still is fairly enjoyable in its own way.
Went to Kita no Donburi today with the GF during a lunch rush. Awesome place, we both really enjoyed our food. Service was very efficient and food came out shortly after paying for food.
I got the Ikura don and zaru soba. She got the kakuni don(pork belly)
the pork belly was awesome, no super salty and melted in your mouth.
9/10
Yea, it is enjoyable in it's own way.
Typically, I wouldn't hit Samurai Sushi type of places but given the right circumstances I will and it does the job for that moment. Fuck I'm craving me some sashimi now talking about sushi

Went there for lunch today as my fiance said she went with her friend and the food was delicious.
Real authentic Japanese food, and not just your typical sushi and teriyaki chicken. They actually serve a tray full of different dishes exactly like what you would eat in Japan.
I got the Ichiro Don with udon noodles. My rice mixed with egg had eel, chicken and prawn tempura. The lady got the Mugi Ten Set which had lots of stuff like fish, chicken ball, tororo, tamago, brown rice and soup.
Very filling and brought back memories of dining when we were back in Okinawa on vacation.
Friendly staff and price was not bad considering the amount of food that you get.
Just had phnom penh for the first time and have no idea what the hype was about.
Had the butter beef, chicken wings, beef luc lac.
Gf and friend both had dried noodles.
5-6/10.
Personally I find that it has gotten worse over the years. With that said, the 3 items you refer to at it's peak still wasn't a 10/10 for me or anything.

Steak Tartare was overly salty with not much other flavours.
Steamed mussels were great, juicy and plump.
BC Halibut had a great sauce but a tad over-done.
Grass-fed steak, though usually leaner than grain-fed, was overly dry as it was a level or two over medium-rare.
Kinda disappointed considering the hype I've heard about it.

Actually... I'm not sure if they're under new management again... but I was there for lunch near the end of June after a trip from Europe and needed a sushi fix, and quick, I opted for E Bei.
My sister and I both went and we found the food to be half decent. Not sure if we just missed Asian food desperately for the 3 weeks we were away or if it's actually gotten a little better there... lol. And for the record, the last time I ate at E Bei was probably back in 2009.

Been here once before, I guess it would be considered middle eastern/Persian. They have a pretty great menu with lots of different dishes and tasting platters, there's a "tase of the east" or somthig like that which is $25 or $30 a person but you basically get 6-8 different dishes with daal etc
I had the two wraps, one is slow roasted beef with lentils and a tonne of spices and the other I beleive was the chicken, in the wraps they have about 15 different options in both vegetarian and non vegetarian choices
Wraps were great, very flavorful and fresh ingredients, the daal is all made in house with all their soups, and their Chai teas are delicious and I'm usually not too big on chais but they are pretty great there, super spicey
I'll give it an 7.5/10 just because I haven't had their big dishes yet and the price can get up there but for what it is, it's delicious

La Casa Latin Cuisine & Bakery
2250 Kingsway in Vancouver (Just off of Nanaimo across from Pho Hoa and literally beside Sushi By Yuji.)
I came across this hole in the wall by accident when picking up some take-out from Sushi By Yuji last week. I popped in to see what they had and it was a bit of a funny place. Turns out it's actually 1/3 store, 1/3 bakery, and 1/3 restaurant.
This is literally a mom and pop shop. Owned and operated by a husband and wife team from Guatemala, they serve Guatemalan cuisine and traditional baked goods. They also sell an assortment of products from Guatemala.
My lady friend and I tried their hilachas soup (think beef stew but pulled/shredded beef) and their house special plate (beef.) The hilachas was very hearty, literally a meal on its own and the house special comes with your choice of beef, chicken, or pork, accompanied by rice, black beans and tortillas.
I also had a bottle of mandarin Jarritos and she had a glass of tamarindo. Food overall was delicious and the couple were extremely friendly and were very good about explaining the foods!
They also have tacos, tostadas, tamales, and a Guatemalan specialty called "paches" which is much like a tamale, except they use potato. We were looking forward to trying it out but unfortunately, they don't make it very often and you have to order it well in advance.
Ovearll, I'd give this place an 8.5/10. Food was great, love the mom'n'pop operation and very friendly owners. They take cash/debit/Visa. Keep in mind, they serve dinner mostly on weekends so if you want to try their food out, I recommend you give them a call to check in advance to avoid disappointment. Worse comes to worst, head next door to Sushi By Yuji.

$155 for 4 drinks, 2 entree's and a couple of their statays? Fuck that. Could eat a million times better for the price at countless other places.

Also after trying a few glowbal group place, started hating them more and swore it off.

Abigails has gone from awesome to terrible about 1 to 1.5 years ago. I used to eat there bi-weekly as I lived about a block away and it was the best food I could get after working late by a long shot. Its a real shame. I used to count the days until I could get a steak tartare and poutine with bacon and poached egg and a pint of red truck at midnight after a 12-13 hour shift in a hot kitchen, now I'd rather grab a slice from fucking uncle fatih's.

beethovens pizza @ cultus lake.. 6/10 nothing special. it was like bread with toppings
20.99 for a small pizza mmmmmm.............expensive
but we didn't really have a choice everything else was pretty pricy as well
honestly, one of the better meals i've had in a while. It's not overly fancy or formal. Infact it's far more casual than i expected and due to the reasonable pricing i'm sure they got a bunch of ski bums, etc. coming through.
The wine list is also very extensive, and from people in the know i've been told one of the better ones in Whistler, if not the best.
We started with oysters rasputin and the lobster bisuqe, great, tasty oysters and the bisque was super creamy and aromatic, tasted like it was probably made with coconut milk.
I then had the mixed grill which consisted of venison, tenderloin, lamb, and duck breast. All cooked to your preference, i had the venison and tenderloin cooked to rare and lamb and duck a little less pink. The tenderloin was the star of the show but the duck with the caramelized onions was spot on, one of the tastiest preparations of duck i've had.
Le GF had the seafood sampler which had a glazed salmon, miso crusted sable fish, seared halibut and prawns. Every peice was great but the miso crusted sable fish was crazy good, perfect textures mixed together. Two of the fish were served on lobster mashed potatoes
I'll give it a 8.75/10
pricing is spot on, great value for the food, would return for sure.

Nicli is MUCH better than Nook. I've never got the hype behind nook. The pizza is ok, overpriced and the servers (3 separate occasions) are miserable as fuck. It was a block from my old place in kits so I gave it a few tries. Maybe the one on denman is better?
