River Rock Buffet 5/10
Food was okay. Even though they looked nice, the roast and ham were kind of tough. The crab was alright, but it was way too much effort to get a bit meat. Bring shears and you will rule the crab. For the cost, I would much rather go to a decent restaurant and get the food I want to eat.

(could be good value buffets or good quality food but a bit more $$) All the reviews I've read for the casino buffets say they're all terrible (and they all seem pricey as well)
I've got some relatives that love buffets (I personally don't because I don't ever eat enough to make it worthwhile), so wanted to see if there's any decent ones to take them to when they're in town.

Many of my (asian) family friends, highly recommend River Rock. Evidently, they haven't had decently quality food. All the food is just alright.

Never been, but only buffet I'd consider trying in the Lower Mainland is the Pan Pacific one. https://www.panpacific.com/en/hotels...ceans-999.html
The concept of paying money to stuff yourself just doesn't appeal to me anymore. I simply don't eat that much and it's probably cheaper and healthier to order what I want instead.

Buffets are for people that think volume = value.

Probably not for anyone here, but for those people that Westopher is thinking about, they should really just read this AMA: An All-You-Can-Eat Buffet Owner Did A Reddit AMA And We're Shook

Buffets suck. My wife likes them and now my kids do too.
The River Rock one was actually pretty good when they first opened. Now it’s shite like the rest of them.

Had the buffet at starlight yesterday and it was around the mediocre mark. $20 as opposed to nearly double for river rock though.

outside of like insanely obese guys with 60" guts who can get value at a buffet?
i'm not a skinny guy by any means and i could get full as fuck off $20 of some decent sushi, theres zero value in paying $35 for some overcooked prime rib and potato salad.
i think i've said this before but i fucking HATE wasting money on shitty food, even if its $10. yesterday i had some shitty viet food in new west it was $12 and i was pissed off all day because i wish i had eaten somthing better.. i'll lose $300 at the casino and it wont cross my mind, but $15 on a shitty meal.. that shit burns

There are no good buffets in Vancouver, period. I went to the "brunch buffet" at Coast a few years back, I think it was for Mother's Day, so expensive it was like $59 per head, totally not worth it.
The only AYCE-style I would go in Vancouver is hot pot.

Not local, but I've heard good things about Feast Buffet in Renton (south of Seattle). Asian run buffet with a really good selection of food. Little more on the pricey end at $25/$30 USD depending on weekday/weekend. But I've heard they have a pretty legit fresh selection of sushi, crab legs, lobster, and roast. Anyone been? MG1?
I'll try to check it out next time I go down to Seattle.

The rise eatery.
Been in the papers for a few time; Granville and 20th area; just before south granville area.
Honestly, the food wasn't too crazy to rave about. Drinks were decent. I didn't think it was that epic. I honestly wouldn't go back. Sad.
6.5/10 People were really nice, decor was good, just nothing to rave about.

Rocko's (24 Hour) Diner [aka Riverdale]
3/10 rating based on just food and not service.
Service isn't rated cause it's a pretty busy but small place. I'm slightly irked that half our group got water, their orders through, and food mostly eaten, before we even got our orders taken or given water ._.
Food was subpar at best. I ordered the Disco Fries (regular poutine + onion rings). Took 3 bites and called it quits. Probably the worst poutine I've ever eaten, on the same level as McDonald's poutine. The Jughead milkshake tasted good, but too thick. I much prefer Lucy's Diner in Van. $13 on a disappointing meal, what a waste.
If you're going to Rocko's for the Gram, by all means. But I wouldn't want to go back.
On another note, anyone got poutine recommendations aside from Fritz/Smoke's?

Went to Campagnolo Roma for my wife's birthday. Everything was awesome. A solid 9/10. Nothing crazy, just good honest italian I could eat weekly. One of the best pizzas I have had in recent memory and some amazing fresh baked sourdough.
Was less than $100 for way more food than we could handle and a couple drinks each..

papa days on knight street for butter chicken and also first time trying the lamb biryani for takeout. This place delivers if you live in the neighbourhood but i dont. Its not a sit down restaurant, mostly for takeout but their service was very friendly.
service 8/10
food 8/10 butter chicken was amazing as well as the garlic naan to go with. Food would've had a better rating if the lamb biryani was better.
Id have to say the lamb biryani was good but not as mentionable as the butter chicken.
Asked for extra spicy and it had a decent kick but wasn't too spicy for me.
