Pesto on carbonara? The fuck, that's blasphemy. Your taste buds must've been confused as hell.

oooo what changes may I ask? I always visit the one in Richmond because its close to me and the staff is super friendly.... but I always preferred the food on Broadway compared to any other location.

Have a trip planned to Whistler and was going to head back to Rimrock for an anniversary dinner but before I do, I wanted to know if anyone has any other recommendations or somewhere new to try.. we’ve done Araxi, Bearfoot, Quattro, Bar Oso etc.

I’ve heard good things about Raven Room and haven’t checked that out yet but am open to RS suggestions if anyone has any.

Whistler dining is so wack.

There is that French bistro at creek side but good look getting in, shits booked like months in advance I always forget to try when we go up.

Honestly as old school as Rim Rock is can’t say I’ve had a better meal in whistler

Might be talking about red door? I’ve heard good things but never tried it.
I also heard araxi was good though, and bar oso, and raven room and whatever else up there…..
I’ve never been impressed by a meal in whistler tbh other than the place I worked when I lived there. Mountain club was amazing but managed too poorly financially to survive. I will say that chicken fingies from earls never disappoints though.

It's not what you're looking for and I haven't been in a long time but Splitz Burger is always my favourite go-to in Whistler.

I managed to get in at Red Door last year when I went with the wife, booked about 3 weeks ahead I think. Food was classic and great, lovely service too. It wasn't anything super modern or groundbreaking, but I enjoyed my dining experience.

Went down to Atlanta last week for work. Hit up some amazing spots for food that you just can't get here.

1) Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q. Original location on DeKalb Avenue. Long wait, so I ordered to go and ate back at my hotel. Chopped brisket was delicious, but the real star was the smoked chicken. Spicy collard greens and Frito pie were also on point. Controversial, but I think Southeast BBQ is way better than Texas BBQ.

2) Superica - Operated by Ford Fry. Always wanted to try this out on previous trips. Modern Mexican. Chili Relleno was delicious. Their queso was some of the best I have ever had, although a bit runny. Good cocktail menu, plus you can order drinks and sip them outside in the parking lot while you wait haha.

3) El Super Pan in Ponce City Market - Cubano. What can I say, you can't get a proper Cuban sandwich in Vancouver. This is as close as possible to getting one in Miami.

Baan Lao

9/10

I've eaten a lot fine dining in Vancouver over the years. A lot of it was good but I only have 2 meals to date that I still remember till this day as being super memorable. This "might" be #3, can't say for sure yet cause it has only been like 4-6 weeks since I went. Ask me again in 4 - 6 years.

Anyway, won't get into details but service, ambience, and especially food all top notch. I think it was $190 or something per person for a set tasting menu. I don't think the price is ridiculous in my opinion. Would go back.

In case you were curious what my 2 most memorable meals of all time in Vancouver are from a fine dining perspective. In no order

1. Diva At The met, tasting menu this was back in like I don't know maybe around 2008
2. Connor Butler

Row Fourteen 9 out of 10.

Thanks to whoever mentioned it here a couple of pages ago. Raised my curiosity and looked them up. Worth the hype. Don't know how someone can make a potato taste so effin good ... but wow!! Not sure what else they can do better but I haven't gone to a Michelin Star restaurant so I'm saving the 10 for that occasion.

A few of us were talking about it in another thread I think. The Michelin star restaurant likely won't be better.

Depends, Michelin has such a wide range of restaurant tiers. It'll be better than a lot of them potentially, but also not as good as a lot either.

They have a 2 night getaway which includes 2 night stay, 2 nights at Row Fourteen with the full menu including flights of 4 cider, $50 to use at their coffee/shop, and a nice tour from the owner!

2 nights of Row Fourteen ... pinch me. Tonight is 2nd night

I’ve ate at a handful of Michelin star places including two 2 stars.

One included the oldest, maybe fanciest resty in Paris that cost like $700 for lunch lol.. and while the experience was somthing, I wouldn’t say the food was any better than row fourteen
