Samurai Sushi on Fraser
-10000000000000000000000000
Worse sushi I've ever had. Not only was it not fresh but the fish tasted stale and possibly expired. Gross, I had to throw away half my chirashi don. I hope I don't get sick.
Sushi Garden is 100000000000000000XXXXXX better for cheap sushi.

Mamak Cafe
Really small place in Gastown but the food was really good.
Had the Laksa which was a good sized portion and was flavourful and shared an order of Roti with a coworker.
Overall I'd give the place an 8.5/10. It's not extremely obvious where they are though, they're inside the Pub 340.

Starbucks coffee (dark roast) & vanilla cupcake 6/10. Acceptable though portions are quite small for the price.
Anyone know where they serve good pastries and drinks? Thanks!

Beefy Beef Noodles - 7/10.
Beef brisket with tomato in noodles. You get what you pay for. Good enough for a evening meal.

Fresh @ The Sheraton Guildford
9/10 for the brunch buffet. Though at $30/head, I'd expect a great spread and good quality. Upside is that drinks (juice, coffee, tea, pop) are included in the price. They had a huge spread of food, I didn't have enough room to try it all.

I ended up having the beef rendang this time which I order quite a bit when I go for Malay. The flavours were nice and a lot of the beef was tender. There were some cuts of beef that weren't as tender as I'd like though. Overall i'd give it a 8/10.
Skyxx...well if you do start goin into rage mode order a beer and that'll calm you down...maybe...lol.

Octopus garden
Me and fiancé each ordered the $100/person omakase. Came with approx 10 dishes and dessert. I got extra dish bc the chef/owner asked mr if I was full and I said nope hehe. The uni shooter was delicious, the sushi excellent, but only complaint was the Otoro was not fatty enough and had hard strands. All pictures show portions for 1 person except the sashimi platter , foie gras sushi and the sushi platter , which was for 2 ppl
Overall 9/10 Posted via RS Mobile
Piece of mango and some kind of fish sushi
2 kinds of oyster
Uni Shooter
Fried Geoduck salad
Assorted Sashimi (hamachi, otoro, toro, sockeye salmon , some white fish whole , tako, and mirugai)
Chawan Mushi
Lobster motoyaki and lamb
Foie Gras sushi
Assorted sushi (flamed otoro, lobster roll , toro, some kind of saba ,spicy chopped scallop topped with mentaiko)
This was extra as I wasnt all full, AAA alberta beef with mentaiko topping
Soy Gelato white sesame on left, brown sugar on right.

E-canteen - 8/10.
Curry beef brisket with rice. Good simple late night meal. Not a lot of expectations since I was hungry and wanted to eat something simple.

Old Spaghetti Factory 8/10 Downtown Location
Had Spaghetti and meatballs. Pasta was surprisingly "Al Dante" and the meatballs were perfect in flavour. The pasta sauce had the perfect mix of sourness/sweetness from the fresh ripen tomatoes and all I can say is that they never use the "canned" counterpart. The service was quick and attentive and there was one very cute waitress. I will definitely return to try out their Linguine fettuccine. I don't know what's wrong with other people when they came here, they all came out disappointed but I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. I guess some of you have got to get your taste buds checked out.

BBQ pork, tofu + vegetables on rice from Kent's Kitchen. 8/10
They make pretty tasty BBQ pork. It's tender, has just the right amount of fat and sweetness. I went to the Victoria location and the service was quick and efficient. Though I prefer the Chinatown location because the selection is bigger and its always an adventure going into that part of town (I remember when I took my ex there and she freaked out hahha). |
