So good.
That's coz those are actually green unripe apricots that are prepared and brined like olives. Creative and delicious.

Ordered takeaway from House of Dosas on Kingsway/Knight.

One of the better mutton biryanis I've had. Good spice levels even at 'medium' and they included raita (yogourt with shredded carrot/onion/cucumber). Goat curry came with a choice of bread, so I chose the paratha. It was gummy and not flaky. Naan would've been a better choice.

7.5/10 +0.5 points for the hostess following up with a phone call letting me know it was ready. Their ETA was bang on. Definitely going back.

Stop being a bitch.

Drive home Crow's Nest, stop for food at Row 14, then hop in the water at Bromley Rock on the way back.

That's my route everytime.

Went to the Beachhouse for lunch on Friday to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and it's a gem. It helped that the weather was great but the location is fantastic - right on the water with great views of Stanley Park, UBC etc. We sat in the enclosed patio and they had heaters and blankets for when it got breezy. The staff were friendly, cheerful, and prompt.

Very seafood centric menu - it's not the calibre of a Blue Water Cafe or Boulevard but it was good for the money. The raw oysters were a bit tiny but very briny and fresh - best ones I've had in years.

It's a "nice occasion" type of place - if I had out of town guests I'd consider bringing them there.

Recent trip to Penticton went to Poplar grove for dinner, been here a few times but it’s a pretty sweet spot for fairly informal but nicer dining. Also as I’ve mentioned in previous posts re: food prices, you can go to a brewery in town and spend $120 on typical pub food and meh beer, or you go to a place like this and have an actual meal with numerous glasses of wine and dessert for $160.

Shared appies, shared a main, this Flan or whatever it was for dessert though might have been the star fresh berries and perfect amount of tartness. If you’re in penticton it’s a very nice spot for lunch or dinner

Oh and those little honey buns were magical as well lol

Yea their wine is pretty good, they also gave us a few glasses of bubbly because I put down we were celebrating a graduation so always appreciate little touches like that

I’d think the menu could probably be a bit hit and miss for some though as it’s not very expansive

We did the chef's menu again at Row 14 last week, all in with drinks it came out to about $240 for the 2 of us.

Oddly enough I'd say this was our most disappointing chef's menu at Row 14 of all the times we've visited thus far. Still love the place, but not their best showing. Veggies were somewhat undercooked, and lacking in carbs, too many full on minimalistic veggie options (beet gazpacho, plan radishes, etc) this time around.

Hit up Boulevard in the Sutton Place Hotel last night - been hearing about how it was the best seafood restaurant in Vancouver for a few years now and it definitely didn't disappoint. Everything we had was excellent - foie gras terrine, octopus, beef carpaccio, seared scallops, and sablefish. The dessert platter was a ridiculous bargain at $48 - quality and variety was exceptional. The presentation was spot on with every dish. I couldn't fault anything that we ordered - maybe the foie gras terrine was TOO rich? It was simply the best meal I've had in years (Botanist and St. Lawrence come close)

I was concerned the place would be a bit stuffy like Hawksworth but it was actually pretty casual - there were even children there including what looked like a 10 year old rocking steak frites and a prawn cocktail (rich parents I guess).

And pricing was very reasonable considering what we were eating - less than $500 after tip for 4 people (we were stuffed).

Went again to Boulevard this past week for a celebration dinner between myself and 3 other friends and we got spendy with the seafood tower, their best caviar, a bunch of appetisers and the 52oz tomahawk steak. My gosh it was great. Everyone agreed that it was an incredible meal and some of the best food we've eaten in a long time. The demi glaze for the steak was outstanding as was the steak.

Service this time, like last time, was excellent - present when needed, well informed, and friendly.

I'll actually be back there a third time in 11 days as I have an out of town friend visiting. Looking forward to exploring the rest of their menu.
