You can try T-Mobile, AT&T or SIMPLE Mobile | Unlimited Cell Phone Plans

Does AT&T offer a PAYG iPhone data plan now? Last time I tried (about a year or so ago) they told me they didn't have one.

No. AT&T does not have pre-paid plans that include data. Data plans on AT&T are additional. Sadly, they don't offer a day or weekly pass which sucks.

Right - I use their $5/15/25 data plans with the $2/day voice plan right now depending on how long I'm in the US. I just thought they might support iPhone now from another carrier. (they told me that the PAYG accounts weren't provisioned to work with an iPhone so even if you had an unlocked iPhone and bought the voice and data, it still wouldn't work.

Apparently, after a little Google searching, there's a way to get iPhone with data working on an AT&T PAYG SIM...

^ Why wouldn't it work in the first place though? iPhone and T-Mobile supports EDGE at the same frequency.

If you go down to US frequent enough, buy a T-Mobile Mi-Fi. $10 for 200MB/week (whichever first) or 30 for 1GB/month. I have yet hit the limit in the 10+ occasions that I recharged. And this is with iPad playing youtube/PPTV on the road.

I bought mine off local Craigslist for $50. Then just load it up whenever I go for anything longer than a day. Then use Skype on my iPhone/Android whenever I need to call someone.

The speed is awesome if you are in their *4G* coverage.

Midtown is probably the best part to stay in because it's in the middle of everything. It's pricey there though.

We're staying on the other side of Roosevelt Island in Long Island City.

I found a hotel that's about a 16minute walk to Midtown.

Flight from YVR and hotel is $1337/person and staying at Amsterdam Court Hotel. Seems like an ok hotel, don't care too much since I think I'm just going to be sleeping there lol.

That's the high season for NYC, so make sure you factor that into your budgeting costs.

How much is that a night? I just got back from 10 days in NYC. My wife and I stayed at Imperial Court Hotel, in the Upper West Side. It worked out to $189/night with a Queen-sized bed, and kitchenette. We were a block away from the subway, which was only 4 stops to Time Square.

I think it's averaged out to be about 250 / night... it's about a few minutes walk from broadway though

How long is the subway ride usually?

heading to New York will be the first time. Apparently there are 2 airport that i can go to and both get to my hotel at the same time. John F. Kennedy International Airport in NY and Newark Liberty International Airport in NJ.

Anyone have advice on which is better airport to go to? In terms of security and travel to Manhattan in NY

I find that flights from LRG get delayed more so vs. JFK

When are you going? I would avoid JFK if you're travelling these few weeks.
There's a current strike going on with their security's..etc...

LRG is pretty ghetto and yes, in my experience, many delays.

Haven't been to JFK but its a lot more convenient when going in to Manhattan and a much nicer airport overall.

i plan my flight to be in Feb, im deciding to land between Newark Liberty International Airport, EWR vs John F. Kennedy International Airport, JFK. So by Feb, the security strike should be resolved? and JFK is the better one?
