This is how I do it for my friends phones: Get this: iPhone Configuration Utility 2.2 for Windows http://support.apple.com/kb/DL926 Create a new configuration profile and under one of the settings enter incorrect APN info. Then plug in your iphone and apply this profile to your phone. Done. |
Or you can download FakeAPN from Cydia. It's another tab for SBSettings that creates fake APN info when activated so that no data will be transfered. This is what i use, hasn't failed me yet. |
When is OS4.0 coming out?!! |

In the office, iPhones are starting to show poor battery life. I searched this thread, and couldn't really find a definitive answer to replacing the battery. I'm either looking for a DIY kit solution, like something from DX, or a local place in Surrey that can perform the replacement. |
there's an iPhone repair place on Westwood near Lougheed hwy in Coquitlam. |
^ive seen batteries in london drugs guildford for ipods not sure about iphones never looked |
I wanna update my jailbroken iphone 2g from 3.1.2 to 3.1.3. How do I go about doing this without losing all my stuff on the phone? |
For Mac users who can't wait until the 21st for iOS 4 software for your 3G/3GS and iPod Touch 2nd gen & 3rd gen. This is the iTune 9.2 beta and the GM iOS 4 released yesterday to developers. http://gumballtech.com/2010/06/07/do...beta-included/ Mac users only because the iTune 9.2 beta is only available to OS X on that site |
iPhone 3G users, anyone upgrade to the iOS4 software yet? Comments? I have a feeling that it will further lag the phone... |
Anyone using a 3G upgrade to IOS4 and jailbreak with redsnow using windows yet? I want to know how it is. I might wait till they upgrade the spirit jb for IOS4 |
I've updated to iOS4. I keep hearing from different people how it's made their phone faster, but I've noticed much more lag with my 3G, especially during texting and side scrolling on the main pages. It also seems to load programs like iTunes much more slowly. As a side note, I'm a little sad that some of the features that were put into the 3GS's upgrade (wallpaper, etc) weren't available for the 3G. |
I think the general consensus is that iPhone3G will be slowed down with iOS4. There has been tests and even videos. So, do NOT update to iOS4!!! http://www.flickr.com/photos/adriannier/4724180371/ |
I felt like my phone loads alot faster than, don't know if I wanna do it now Posted via RS Mobile |

BY NO MEANS should you use android as the primary OS (it's mostly experimental and a lot of basic features don't work) That being said, this is the list of what works (And what dosent) Calling Wifi Multi-touch Speakers + Mic What dosen't work: power management (battery runs out in like... 60 minutes or so) Lack of "off" button - iphone has only so many buttons compared to Native android phones. For more info check out the original hacker's blog (the guy is Vancouver based!) http://linuxoniphone.blogspot.com/ |
I'm not even going to bother with iOS4. If I'm ever to use it, it would be with a iPhone 4. I am happy at where my phone sits now with the jailbreak. |
i updated mine. whatever you do, do not enable multitasking if u are jailbreaking it. phone wasn't even usable. now that i disabled multitasking and the wallpaper feature it doesn't feel any different than it did before. make sure u give yourself a few hours, the process was long |

i just used "backgrounder" for multitasking. (jailbreak only) no need to update to an unproven OS IMO. |
I almost feel sorry for iphone users. Almost. Most of them are obnoxious, so not really :troll: Here's some instructions on how to downgrade back to 3.1.3 |
It must just be the 3G models that are having the sluggish problems, my 3GS works great |

also maybe it was an issue with my phone though but it seems that when a program sits in the backround it doesn't actually do anything. everytime i re open up whatsapp or something like that it has to reconnect and retrieve all my messages. and its a pain how difficult it is to actually close an app. if u ask me, the multitasking feature on the iphone is terrible compared to all the other smartphones out there |
