if you phone came with 4.0.2 you're stuck till tomorrow (Sep 8th) lol. 4.1 is released and the JB should pretty much follow immediately.

ninjai123 09-07-2010 10:03 PM

is this for sure with the JB for the iphone? will this including iphone 4 as well?

3g will be faster on 4.1!

goo3 09-07-2010 10:45 PM

^ could have just been the network. you get less bandwidth when it's busy

but yeah, is the response on the UI that slow normally on 4.0?

hotjoint 09-10-2010 07:17 AM

if any of you update to 4.1 on the 3g. Let me know how the speed/performance is. I downgraded back to 3.1.2 2 days after I upgraded to 4.0 because it was slow and laggy as shit. Supposidly 4.1 runs nice and smooth on the 3G.

skholla 09-10-2010 07:51 AM

im going to test a 3g on 4.1 soon but i would still recommend turning off spotlight even with 4.1. heck even on my 3gs i turned off spotlight because i never use it.

dboy 09-13-2010 10:26 PM

Anyone update to 4.1 with iPhone 3g yet?
How is it?

Noir 09-22-2010 03:27 PM

Is anyone experiencing false text alerts on their 3GS? It's happened once in a while before so it didn't bother me much, but it's been going crazy recently.

Lomac 09-26-2010 12:24 AM

I think all the 3G users have upgraded to iP4... :lol

Anyway, I'm thinking about getting my water damaged 3G fixed under OOW by Apple and then loading Android onto it just for shits and giggles. I know it's still a work in progress, but I'm tempted to try it out. I remember a couple people posting earlier saying they've done it. So for those who have, how is it?

does limerain work on 3G?

_Hotsauce_ 10-10-2010 09:07 PM

Got some issues with my 3G, just got a new one through Warrenty but it came preloaded with IOS 4, and I wanted to go back to 3.1.3, which I did with no problems. Obviously, I wanted to jailbreak and unlock it, like my old phone, went through the process, installed cyida etc, installed blacksn0w, went to restart and now it can't get past the Apple load screen.
The Apple comes up, and it gets the loading progress thing, there are some odd lines at the top of the screen, and it just sits there doing the twirly load shit, resets, repeats etc.
Not to sure what to do now?

You would think that if it works for all those tethering platforms, it would easily do the 3G. I guess I didn't read it carefully enough as there were no warnings of DO NOT USE WITH 3G, but I went ahead with lime rain and it almost bricked my iphone! First try it went into recovery mode and died, second time it died in DFU mode and screen stayed black. Wouldn't even turn on with the plug into itunes logo anymore! Luckily itunes still recognized it and it's restoring as I type. I guess it's not for 3G.

Teh Doucher 10-10-2010 10:36 PM

get rid of those 3g's, they are complete turds...

_Hotsauce_ 10-11-2010 12:27 AM

^
Because? They're still a great phone, I have no reason to upgrade.

optiblue 10-11-2010 01:26 AM

^my 3G still works fine and am contract bound. I got mine in may last year and got screwed by Rogers upgrade dates both for 3GS and 4G. Meeh, I only use mine for email and surfing. Can't justify shelling out $400 right now.

Digging this sucker up from the dead...

I have a Cydia problem that's driving me up the wall - just wondering if anyone else has seen this:

Freshly installed/jailbroken/unlocked 3GS on 4.2.1 with the 6.1.5 baseband. Installed using Redsn0w 0.9.6b6. It will install Cydia, but when I select it, it flashes then goes back to the main screen again.

From what I understand, the latest Redsn0w contains the latest Cydia that is supposed to work on 4.2.1. Google search tells me to restart my iPhone or re-jailbreak it and install Cydia that way. Both have been done already. There's other options that tell me to SSH into my phone but since it's a fresh install, SSH hasn't been enabled so I don't think that's an option. (or is there some way to SSH without having installed Cydia to turn it on?)

Download ifunbox on your Pc. You don't need to install anything on your phone for this one but u need to connect it directly to the Pc with cable.
