As I have said before, screw iPhone 3G. My iPhone 1.0 with the new 2.0 firmware upgrade will suit me just fine. Sure I wont have any good data usage unless I am around an open wifi are, but hell, my plan sure beats the $100+ a month plan that doesn't even include unlimited data hahaha. |
anyways i got my 3giphone in front of me right now 6 of them on my desk LOL |
Its pretty dope you have some, and the phone its self is better than my (all 1.0 iPhones) iPhone, but IMO it's not worth the plan. Sure there are ways around signing up for those ridiculous pro mo plans, but it's totally not worth it. Why go though all the effort of getting the phone just to have a regular voice plan on it? Go find a used 1.0 and use that. 90% of the features at less than 50% of the cost. If some one gets the iPhone3G jail broken and can some how get it on an amazing plan, thats when Ill look into it. Phones are dope, but canadian pricing is not so much |

I saw one going to a client's place yesterday. I dont like how the backside of the 3G iphone is so vulnerable to scratches. I have a first generation iphone and used it for half a year now and no scratches on the back. with the data plan $30/mo, for 3 years thats $1080 + $199 for the 8gb. I know you get the internet access and all that, but for those people who just want the phone and wont be using too much browsing on their phone, that is quite a bit of money. I'm at least glad that I paid 500ish for my first gen, not having to add additional data plan charges. I'm happy with leaching wifi off people for free :P |
no pics at least form work line.. lol things get tracked in and out cant take these babies home theres a whole pile in the back room too well..not too many..but its there |

There might be a chance for a US phone company to come to Canada! After you signed the contract, you are stuck with Rogers for 3 years, even if other company offers a much better plan and deal for a new phone!!! It's dumb to sign 3 years contract, since I'll bet you will get a new phone (or next new iphone) after 1-2 years. |
Looks like the dumbasses are coming out in full force http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/ele/750519292.html http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/ele/750385867.html |
well..... craigslist is full of dumbshits, I rmb seeing someone selling a nokia n97 as well as a 4G IPHONE >=l i was so tempted to buy it too just for laughs |
Hey mobile phone gurus, I have a few questions for you guys. I want to buy the new 3g iPhone WITHOUT the plan. 1) Will it be cheaper in the states? (im going down there tomorrow for the weekend) 2) Will it be unlockable or do I even need to unlock it? I want to use it here, and in HK. 3) I dont want a data plan here, I just want the WIFI and when I go to HK/China I will use a 3g plan there. Is that advisable? Or if im not getting a data plan, 3g and 2g iphones are the exact same? The reason why I want the iphone is because I will be planning to go back to HK for a few months and I know they got the 3g plans for cheap so I want to be able to use it. For Canada, ill just use wifi to watch my stocks and surf at school etc. Any advice gurus? |
I think it will still be cheaper to buy it from the US since Rogers is unwilling to sell you the phone w/o a plan whereas you can buy it straight out from an Apple Store in the US. Your ingenious plan of using Wifi in Canada and 3G data in HK will not work. The rest of the world (save for Australia) uses different bands for 3G than what we have in NA and what the 2nd generation of iPhones that you purchase in NA will have. Prices for the launch of the iPhone in Canada are written in stone but the actual policies have yet to be fully revealed. |
WTF? I cant use an iphone here for 3g there? So basically it's pointless for me to get the 3g phone right? I might as well get the older one? |
i believe the iPhone 3G has all 3 frequences for 3G.. 850/1900/2100 so it is actually possible to use 3G networks in asia with a north american iPhone 3G only issue is... all iPhone 3Gs are locked to a specific carrier and there are no ways to unlock it yet because.. well.. software isn't even out yet... but yea, once there's an unlock i'm sure u can use it pretty much anywhere |
unlocked iphone 3g?!?! u say......wakakakkakakakka no i cant confirm yet will know 2molo |
ya there is unlocked 3g iphone irhg tnow listed in some auctions. its kinda cheap too like 600 bux for 8gb. not too bad. |

For the new 3g version, for the GPS, do you need a dataplan for that or how does it work? Sorry im an iPhone, cellphone and GPS noob. |
ok the 3g might not work IN hk because its a differnet 3g system from North america. |
the GPS is aGPS(assisted GPS) so maps are not pre loaded onto the phone and will need data in order to download the google maps The iphone, as i pointed out earlier is the same no matter where u buy it, so u will get the same thing on rogers/fido or softbank.. |
