hopefully we'll be able to buy the iphones at the advertised prices like in the USA right now and then just take them home and unlock them.

dink 06-09-2008 02:11 PM

We'll see what services rogers and fido have to offer...

bcrdukes 06-09-2008 02:12 PM

Worst news to the telecom industry - evAr! :o

gomcse2002 06-09-2008 02:46 PM

I am with Rogers right now with a 2 year contract and if I want get my hand on the new 3G iPhone after July 11, can I buy just the phone with no contract for CAD $ 199.99 ??

Please advise.

willystyle 06-09-2008 02:59 PM

So, there's no contract on these phones like someone suggested? it's sold as is?

Eff-1 06-09-2008 03:10 PM

Starting July 11, iPhone 3G will sell for $199 for the 8Gb model and $299 for the 16Gb
model, on a three-year plan. More details on price plans and retail
availability will be available soon.

wycked 06-09-2008 04:21 PM

It's with a contract.

The plan prices will take out any savings you get from getting the phone at 199.

eddoe 06-09-2008 04:39 PM

so anyone selling their old iphones? i will buy it for 120 haha

Ztealth 06-09-2008 04:46 PM

dumbasses are trying to sell their old 16gb iphone for $700 claiming it is rare.

Sky_2000 06-09-2008 04:50 PM

going to be rarer then the 3g one's for sure. Every high school kids and their C-Lai mother will have the new iPhone in Vancouver. It's a great day for Apple they are going to make 100's of millions when the new phone is released, but like all thing's Apple a new and better version will come out 6 months after the 3g phone comes out.

Ztealth 06-09-2008 04:55 PM

isn't it the case right now? i have seen a lot of c-lai with iphones, i have seen a lot of old chinamen using it too...it is a total turn off...
iphone is the new word for cellphones now.

****PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL YOUR IPHONES ARE TURNED OFF DURING CLASS.

mos_skeeto 06-09-2008 04:58 PM

so the at&t contract starts at 30 bucks...

bossxx 06-09-2008 05:01 PM

I like the improvements from the original one I had.

I remember I couldn't text more than 1 person at a time.. little things like that made me switch back to blackberry.

Doesn't matter. All the new features will be available on the old iPhone with the 2.0 firmware upgrade. The new rules they have for selling the iPhone 3G (must activate in-store) means it'll be a lot harder to get them, eh? Besides, I'm rather disappointed. It looks the same, the features are...the same. aGPS sucks, and 3G makes little difference to me without a good data plan. Sure, I get signal in some places I wouldn't normally get, but I'd rather get a more unique and esoteric phone than this new RAZR.

But, what the heck is the "SIM ejector tool" that is listed on the Apple site as being included in the box? ahahahaha...a....paperclip? :haha::haha:

kel1020 06-09-2008 05:13 PM

too bad they still didn't improve their camera with flashlights or even have video recording

Tim Budong 06-09-2008 05:19 PM

interesting read for u business people..i enjoyed it..haha

basically 199 is a subsidised pricing for the iphone on att...unless it changes..but we will see in the coming weeks for rogers/fido

Here's what I don't get. I'm not tryin to start beef but here's how I see it. Yah it looks basically the same, but I mean what else could they do with a large screen on the front. Why would you say aGPS sucks? Either way Tomtom is already slated to release their GPS software for it. But I think the major deal breaker here is the price. At $200 you're getting a new phone, lighter, better batt, 3G (pending data prices), GPS, for half the cost of the previous iphone.

So now you're looking at essentially paying upwards of $200 for exclusivity alone. (N95, etc) Is it really worth that much? With the inclusion of the app store and improved hardware I don't see how this phone doesn't just destroy the market at this price point.

so u rather have a razr than iPhone? lol j/k :p
hard to get an unique phone now...back in the days, u want to go unique just turn to imported phones. not a lot of ppl use imported phones back then. but now most ppl use imported phones...
anyways, at this price range...iphone gotta be the best looking one and with the best features

StylinRed 06-09-2008 06:25 PM

built in gps..check

2.0 megapixels << :(

would of replaced my n95 if it had a good camera

edit: oh i forgot and only if it looks like the itouch (smaller)

officejesus 06-09-2008 06:42 PM

are people going to sell their 1st gen iphones for less now?
no one on craigslist is budging.. they think its rare.

djalf 06-09-2008 06:45 PM

I would wait til the actual launch of the iphone, I've been reading on multiple sites that the new prices are with contracts only, so who knows if they're right or not.

some users here have already posted this, just making a note of it again.

as for the price of the old ones, I really hope they don't depreciate that much. those prices seem really low for any phone with those capabilities without a contract.

officejesus 06-09-2008 06:46 PM

i actually wouldn't mind a 1st gen if its cheap.
they were saying 100 for 8Gb 150 for 16Gb on craigs.. i was like wtf, you kidding me?
that's not real haha

after the upgrade the iphone will have black coloured back and will have 3g functions!

+Kardboard+ 06-09-2008 07:37 PM

Ditto, 1st gen iPhone with firmware 2.0.0 would be fine. No 3G blows, but hey, whatever. I already have aGPS in it since the 1.1.3 update, although it's useless to me without data lol For GPS, I have a REAL one in the form of a TomTom ONE XL, which is perfect for not just I, but sharing with my family as well (i.e. they don't have to take my phone bwahahaha!).

I'm hearing the iPhone 3G will be sold with contracts only, but who knows. The Apple.ca site says it'll be available in Rogers and Fido stores soon, presumably on Jul. 11. At that price point, it will be the NEW RAZR, that's what I meant if you didn't understand. :p As in, everyone that's not an Asian/Asian C-lai will have it too...hahaha

Dammit...and I wanted to sell my P905i...haahah
