Just to be on the safe side, call Roger's customer service center and ask them to disable EDGE for your account. So, you'll know 100% that you won't get charge for it.

As for wifi, you can still use it even if you disabled EDGE.

Can you delete the APN info in the EDGE setting on 3G's?? I've asked Fido to block my internet access and I've deleted the APN info on my 1st gen iPhone and I've never been charged for data.

GPS itself, no.

It's largely useless, though, without either a data connection for Google Earth or something similar, or commercial GPS software like TomTom or Garmin. There are other freeware apps for Windows Mobile devices that will do basic things like tell your position, and probably something similar for the iPhone, but anything beyond that will likely cost you one way or another.

I need some answers before I get the Rogers Iphone 3G.

1. My 3 year contract is about to end in July, what is the cheapest I can get an iPhone 3G for if I sign up for another contract? What is the monthly fee?

2. Who qualifies for the Rogers upgrade for the iPhone?

3. Can I just get an iPhone 3G off ebay and add the 6GB/$30 data plan? Can this plan be canceled at any time?

4. Is it hard to find these iPhones in stores now?

5. Can you get the iPhone from the Rogers store without signing a data plan?

1) 199 for the phone plus whatever contract you want from rogers.. has to be 3 year though and the plan has to be over 30 bucks a month (it's 249 if under 30 bucks a month)

2)You if you haven't had a hardware upgrade in the past year

3)a) I don't know (i think you can get an unlocked one but not sure)
b) you have to get a contract to get the data plan.. you can cancel it anytime for a hefty price

4)I think they've got there second shipment it so I don't know if it's a problem in van.. there are some here though

5)Yes but that's sketchy.. apparently you can call rogers to turn off the "internet" part aka 3g/edge
