Hey I pm'd you. :D

Also, is the Fido 15 day satisfaction guarantee only for the phone? Can I also cancel the 3 year agreement I signed.

calpico 08-10-2008 01:39 AM

I'm not too sure how the 15 day policy works. I think you can revert back to the original contract but I'm not sure though. Also, I'm not sure if the credits will be returned. From, what I've read on HOFO they remove credits in certain situations so your results may vary with the csr.

3.6mbps is only for when there is no noise to it.... in real life you would be very lucky if you would get 1.5mbps to it because of neon signs.
depending if you are using ADSL or Cable at home, but 2mbps for ADSL and Cable depending on which part of the sign wave you are at and how many people splitting the connection.

Wifi (802.11B/G) is ALOT faster in technical specifications, but because of ADSL/Cable service limitations causing the speed to slow down to match the speed of the HSDPA network.

I just got my phone today and I told them to block the 3G stuff and just use WIFI. Now that I connected to WIFI it stil displays that I am not connected to the internet? How does this work?

parm104 08-10-2008 10:47 PM

15 days will reverse only the contracted deal and the purchase of the phone.

If you decided to give up your $6.95 access fee credits from City Fido, you will NOT get them back even within 15 days.

I'm almost positive, that if your credits are taken off, and you decide to later switch back, you won't get them back.

The best thing to do is simply confirm that you will continue to receive your credits and document it in the account.

So I finally upgraded to 2.0.1. Installer 4 is really barren right now; not sure why we even really need Cydia, App Store, AND Installer... Personally I don't think Installer 4 is of much use. The only things I need are Customize and Winter/Summerboard and they're both available on Cydia anyways. I find the iTunes app store has pretty much everything I need and even the paid apps are all cracked now anyways lol. :shhh:

Only annoyance is the overall lagginess of everything. It's not too bad but it definitely ain't up to 1.1.4 speeds.

More info on cracked apps :x:

Technically it's warez so I dunno if I'm allowed to talk about it here... BUT
mininova search "iphone BGMRK" and the instructions are there (works for 2.0.1 even if it says it's for 2.0). Pretty easy to do, just some copy/paste in SSH.
Anything you can't "find" will be on http://pr0x.org/ ;)

OriginalJC 08-11-2008 07:17 AM

Anyone have the iSkin Revo2? http://iskin.com/revo2_overview.html

What cases are you all sporting for your iphones?

cspec 08-11-2008 10:06 AM

invisible shield!!!

qhey 08-11-2008 10:11 AM

call rogers today for a hardware upgrade.
the rep said it he can block the data on my plan but the iphone will still connect and download updates by itself.
Is that bs on his part or true?
also one of the rep told me the iphone will cost me 249.99 - retention credit from my account = 100 dollars.
However she is not a iphone rep so she couldn't do it for me. Had to transfer me over to the iphone rep. Then the iphone rep said 249.99 firm....
Is he being an asshole or you can't use the retention credit?

thanks

cspec 08-11-2008 10:22 AM

- no it won't connect and download
- any rep would be able to get the iphone for you
- they are just assholes
- they are stupid assholes

turn on wifi: settings/wifi/ slider to ON. hit home button to escape to desktop.

select your personal wifi network at your home, enter your password. OR select any UNLOCKED wifi signal ( when you're on the road ) that your phone displays.

turn on Safari

browse all the pr0n you want without hefty data charges

Ah...perfect!

Looks like the new WinPwn version for the 2.0.1 firmware is out too. I'll probably give it a go later tonight.

[edit] Looks like I'm not going to touch the new WinPwn after reading all the comments about people with errors and how it's buggy as hell on hackintosh :lol

ienhz 08-11-2008 06:51 PM

Nah dude it's fine. The only bug is that it crashes when building the ipsw if you leave the partition size at 500mb. Just boost it up to 512 mb or something and it'll build perfectly.

kcl38 08-11-2008 09:59 PM

WinPwn worked just fine for me. But with the appstore and everything know I can't really remember the point of jailbreaking. I guess it'll get more fun when I start to find more sources. :P

Yeah...I did some more reading afterwards and decided to go ahead with it. I followed the instructions on iClarified and everything went smooth.

How does the appstore work? If I buy a program and end up upgrading my firmware (because it has improved performance etc.) does it automatically allow me to re-download it provided I have my phone re-synced with iTunes?

cspec 08-11-2008 11:22 PM

when you purchase a program on appstore, it is saved in your applications folder
when you upgrade, you can just drag the applications back into your phone

Oh yeah...I didn't have that folder there earlier because I didn't download any applications

anyone kno how to get msn messenger app for the iphone and the blackberry?

Ch28 08-12-2008 02:49 AM

Hmm...

I have 2 gmail accounts on my iPhone. One of them shows "Inactive" because I turned it off but whenever I go into the mail app it'll boot me out. It loads 50 emails from my first account and then it'll load another 50 emails (which I assume are from the inactive account) and boots me back to the home screen. I've tried manually deleting the accounts in settings but they don't delete wtf...

Anybody ever come across this problem?

[edit] Fixed it after doing some reading on hackintosh. There is some bug that users might experience where the user dir permissions were altered which explains why I couldn't delete the other mail account.

Quote:

Also had the problems with Mail app and found the easiest way to solve it by installing Boss Prefs, then you will hit "more" and and the go for "Fix User Dir Permissions" it will do the job, after that mail app works fine.
