Shaw and Telus both do NOT allow external IP's from connecting to their SMTP servers. Probably as a deterrent to spammers.

However, if you are on their respective networks, you should be able to use the SMTP servers provided by them.

Incoming Mail Server Type: POP3

I get all my accounts forwarded to Gmail...which works smoothly with the iPhone.

2.0.2 works with QuickPWN. You'll need a Windows machine to do it but takes about 10 minutes and no technical expertise needed. My 3G 2.0.2 is now jailbroke.

anyone uses a dock with their 3G? specifically i'm looking for a dock that will work for the 3G WITH a rubber case on... i dont want to having remove the case all the time i stick it into a dock...

Problem with Gmail is that it's not POP mail, only Yahoo is. But I think there will be an app that will fix that sooner or later, I hope so at least.

For 2.0.2, I am on 2.0.1 jailbroken. If I upgrade with QuickPwn, will I lose all my contacts and jailbroken apps? Also I heard that you have to upgrade to 2.0.2 through iTunes and then jailbreak it, is that true?

I haven't used any jailbroken apps but I had 2.0.2 before. I'm not sure if you'll lose your stuff during the update.

Can you guys block 100% the data transfer? I'm planning to get an iPhone soon without the data plan but the Fido cust rep told me that it might still use the data transfer service from Fido when I'm using the internet with wi-fi. Is it true?

What plan do you guys have with fido and how much? I'm trying to get the best plan with iphone (not the regular plan on their site)

I have an Universal Dock that I use with my 3G. Haven't tried the rubber case yet with it (just got it in the mail yesterday), but it seems like it should have some space for it (I'll try it when I get home after work).

Gmail can do POP...you just have to turn it on in the Settings (through the web client).

Oops I ment Push mail. It's a delay to get your emails unlike your Blackberry.

Can you go to Settings > General > Usage then check if you have any Cellular Network Data used? Either Sent or Received?

i tries yahoo mail and it does not push through for me. actually it did 1 times and thats it. too unreliable. and i hate the intrusive ad they put on the bottom of all my outgoing emails. I'm gonna stick with gmail.


my besteverskin arrived today. Just put it on.... i guess i didn't do a perfect job. there is a little bit of skin covering the edge of the power buttom. hope it will work itself out.. and it wasn't as hard as ppl say it is on the other hand i didn't do a perfect job...

Hmm I have mine blocked, cant access Safari outside of wifi but it still shows data usage.

$30 for 6gigs good until aug 30 and after that is $30 for 400mb
