They don't allow direct link to the source but it's listed here on their blog. I just tried it and it works ok. It's takes a few airplane mode on/off for it to work.

Edit: I can't make calls out with a different sim since it loses signal right when i press send on my phone. My brother's phone with my sim works fine.

Edit 2: I put my sim card back into my phone and its doing the same thing. When trying to make calls, the signal drops and call fails. So I uninstalled yellowsn0w, reboot and phone is working fine again.

side question: how do i copy my new contacts to the sim?

You can't on the iPhone. Have to use another phone to save contacts to sim card.

So can anyone tell me about this new unlocking software that was just released on Jan 1? I just ordered an Iphone from Apple and will need to get it unlocked. From what I'm reading on Craigslist, you can update your phone to 2.2 and still have it unlocked. Anyone with experience please educate me. Thanks!

So my brother's phone can't really make calls out as well. So I uninstalled it and now got to wait for a better fix.

i installed it

doesn't work with hk PCCW simcard. it would show 1 bar signal. No operator logo, can't do any thing. Try toggle 3g and airplane on and off several time and reset with bosspref. All i get is more invalid sim.

Add on to that the original fido sim also behaves weird keep on dropping signal. SOmetimes reinesertin the sim will cure it but will come back once you restart.

Gonna wait for better updates

i got my 50% working rogers Iphone on fido sim card i can receive call and SMS but cant make out going call......

So basically I'm on vacation in the states right now.. and I want to use my iPhone as a means of communication (fring etc). The thing is, there are wireless signals around, and the phone can detect them... but I can't connect to the signal (no wireless signal where it should be) and I cant open applications.

Any tips or advice on how to handle this would be really appreciated.

with yellowsn0w, i have to restart my Fido iphone couple of time before it works. I tried receiving calls with Rogers SIM, but didn't try to make a phone call.

so has anyone used their data plans outside of the Vancouver area?

i phoned rogers twice, and both times i explained my situation to the CSR's

i said "So if i am in the middle of the forest and use my iphone to access email and internet NOT using 3G, do i get charged aditional for long distance/non-3G?"

they both said no, data is unlimited throughout Canada, anywhere, 3G or not.

so i guess i'll wait to see when my bill comes, i was using GPS and Email up at my cabin the past weekend

Was bored today so I decided to try out the latest version of yellowsn0w 0.9.6 and it's been working great so far :thumbsup:

i use youtube well over 6 hours a month and probably like browsing the net for at least an hour a day on my phone and my data usage has barely broken 1 gig a month so far

Well, it isn't "unlimited" but as long as you're running on Canadian towers then it doesn't matter where you access data from. So if you have the 6gb data plan, it works the exact same anywhere provided you are on Rogers and not roaming in another country.
