Is the stability of the Safari browser significantly different in 2.2.1 versus the older 2.2? I managed to unlock and jailbreak my iPhone with 2.2 (after two agonizing days), but I still haven't been able to successfully update to a custom 2.2.1 firmware. I'm using a WinXP PC and have been trying 2.2.1 custom firmwares off of torrents. I don't have access to a Mac OSX machine to run Pwnage Tools myself.

Most people I know including myself havent updated from 2.2 to 2.2.1 as we're not having any issues with our safari browsers :) and we're too lazy to re jailbreak as well :haha:

for the iPhone 3G, you require one more step to unlock your phone. You have already used QuickPwn to jailbreak your phone to a custom 2.2 firmware, next you use Cydia on your iPhone to download Yellowsn0w which will unlock your iPhone.

Note this is not possible if you have already upgraded to Apple's official 2.2.1 firmware. There is a way to use Pwnage Tools on a Mac OS machine and create a custom 2.2.1 firmware that doesn't upgrade the baseband so you can still use Yellowsn0w to unlock the iPhone. I tried this route but was unsuccessful after two days of mulitple attempts, so I just used custom 2.2 firmware.
