I'm running jail broken 2.1 on my NOT unlocked 2G.. went to go use pwnage tool to update to 2.2.1. as well as jail breaking it, but the program just tells me "wrong firmware bundle selected"... What firmware does it want me to use?????

^ it wants you to use the firmware for whatever version you are updating to, not the old one

2.2.1 is newer than 2.1 though..

u can jailbreak 2.2.1, you just can't unlock it, whatever version you're using you'll have to download that version of pwnage for the jailbreak

any news if they are working on an unlock for 2.2.1?

I downloaded the jail broken ipsw from the dev teams blog...This is why I'm confused as to how its the wrong package..
Should I just back up my phone, then update through iTunes and then run PwnageTool?

Has anyone here unlocked their iphone 3g 2.2.1 through software or using the new turbo sims? There are alot of ppl on craigslist offering unlocking solutions for 2.2.1, but isnt that not possible yet?

Im having a hard time deciding if i should just buy one of the new turbo sims or just wait till dev team releases an unlock... but ive heard stories about signal problems form time to time when using the turbo sims.

Any advice would be helpful. TIA =)

2.2.1 is technically unlockable if you use the pwnage tool. It updates everything except the baseband from 2.28.00 to 2.30.00. You get all the new features except the basebad (which doesn't do anything feature wise) but as for a 2.2.1 OTB unlock then not yet.
