3 years and $80/month.. NO THANKS!
The 3G iphone will be OUTDATED after a year! If not, the battery will die down after 2 years. After that, you will have to get another phone and stuck in contact for another few years... hmmmmmm..

3 years is WAY TOO LONG!... I am not getting one! LOL~ I won't be surprise that iphone won't be sold out on the first day.

30 dollars just for the extra data plan............OMG.........
thats a rip off, IMHO.........

i think 15 to 20 would be a more of a fair price

stuff99 06-24-2008 09:39 AM

i guess $30 for unlimited was just a rumour

$30 unlimited data only applies to iPhone + 3 Year contract + $199/299.

^^Those plans apply to Berries, Tethering and WM phones.

15 or 20 and you want unlimited internet????

highly doubtful.... maybe when data is more mainstreamed... right now barely any users actually use data... but 30 unlimited for the iphone is really an improvement..

even the 30 for 300 for regular phones is a BIG improvement... it was 60 for 25 MB before... we're getting there... just keep waiting... it's a positive change

ijoined 06-24-2008 11:40 PM

can i just get the new 3g iphone in the states and unlock it?? is it unlockable? i dont really care for the data plans.. for $199 you can't go wrong!

Tim Budong 06-24-2008 11:52 PM

$199 is subsidized price!!! You can't walk into an Apple store and get it for $199..Read the fineprint mate.

Rogers retail price $699 + tax.

cspec 06-25-2008 09:29 AM

does that mean you can purchase it without a plan?

stuff99 06-25-2008 10:32 AM

I'm just wondering if you can buy the phone without the dataplan but still sign a 2 or 3 year contract with it.

TRDood 06-25-2008 10:35 AM

why do i need the data plan when i can steal wi-fi everywhere?

ijoined 06-25-2008 10:50 AM

no ones answered my question, i wanna know if its unlockable, i plan on purchasing it in the states

exactly TRDood!

uhh...thats for first gen iPhones only. No one knows if the 3G iPhone is unlockable yet, you'll probably have to wait a bit, unless they used the same baseband/radio hardware as before.

Thats exactly what I mean. If they want data plan to be more mainstream. They have to set the price lower. $30 extra a month, I dont think that many people would even consider to consider, assuming you can get this plan for all phones.

I guess rogers is just raking in the cash as they know apple lovers would pay for that regardless~~ :D

Tim Budong 06-25-2008 06:54 PM

u kno..
none of that pricing bullshit out there is true..its all speculation...
yes..its 199/299 on 2yr on ATT
and 3year on XXX pricing...which hasnt been released to any sales bulliten whatsoever...

Apple has rogers by the neck..so just wait...

I don't want to be a downer because I love the iPhone and will look forward to the 3G one but does anyone find it odd that the "leaked Rogers memo" from the OP is eerily familiar to the "leaked AT&T memo"? Just looking at the two, they are identical. Word for word with the except that AT&T is changed to Rogers/Fido and 2 year contract is changed to 3 year contract. They even copied AT&T's 3G speeds of 1.4 Mpbs. Roger's MotoQ 3G phone is listed as up to 3.6 Mbps. So how does the MotoQ 3G end up being faster than the iPhone 3G? Just curious.

The US have always had better cell phone plans than us (rollover minutes, affordable data, outrageous amounts of texts) so I'm not so sure Rogers/Fido is willing to offer an exact plan to us like AT&T would. They just have to rip us off a little bit. Or else they wouldn't be called Robbers hehe Yeah that's bad. I know.
