Is it okay to tether from my iphone if i have the 30gb data plan right? Or will I get raped up the ass when the bill comes o_O

!MiKrofT 05-26-2009 09:27 AM

How the hell did u get a 30gb data plan?!? Isn't the max 6gb? I'm not sure if they're able to detect tethering or not on the iphone so you might wanna test it first.

Armind 05-26-2009 10:42 AM

oops i meant 6 LOL i got it mixed up -_-

skholla 05-26-2009 11:08 AM

how are you guys tethering? is there a third party app that i need to download?

i also have the 6gb plan and its overkill for regular iphone use. i only go through 100-300 mb per month. the only app that really chews through data is youtube, its about a MB per min.

Armind 05-26-2009 11:12 AM

pdanet from cydia :D

something weird is happening with my iphone 3g lately. Whenever i go in an elevator or go underground to a parkade, the phone looses signal (as expected). But when i leave the elevator or leave the parkade, the phone sometimes doesn't get the signal back (it will just say no service). I would either have to toggle in and out of the airplane mode, or perform a soft reset of the phone for the signal to come back.

Has this happened to you guys before? I believe i am running FW 2.2

It tends to happen to me when riding the skytrain through Columbia station. Sometimes when an iPhone app is actively trying to use the internet to load something, the iPhone will not restore the 3G signal. Once I quit that app, the signal will usually resume in a few seconds.

Anyone got problems with their iPhone 3G Headphone Jack? When I insert my headphone into my phone firmly, it doesn't give that "click" sound anymore, so when I try to play music, it becomes very distorted (Yes, I've tried using multiple headphones). I've tried cleaning it with an air compressor and with a cotton swab with a dab of rubbing alcohol, still without any luck.

Hondaracer 06-02-2009 05:53 PM

^ could be warantee approved, maybe u could get a new one..

anyone know if there is going to be black berry messanger coming to iphone at all??

i was reading on other sites that blackberry does in fact have a sysem of assigning PINS without a BB, but i dont think theres anything ouyt yet?

I bet 95% that there is a big ball of lint in the jack. If you use an air compressor, it is just pushing it in and cotton swap wont work. This happened to me and I thought my headphones were broken and got a new set under warranty. Turns out I just had massive lint inside the jack. Get a paper clip, make it straight, go in deep and pluck out the lint. That will work.

I just tried that, there's nothing inside the headphone jack. :(

How long will I have to wait before they'll give me a new one? Will they give me a replacement phone for the meantime? How does the warranty work?

not for iphone and i dont think there ever will be... i heard that people will be able to do this with winmo phones though.

something that annoys me about the iphone is, that it will not fetch data sometimes. its set to fetch every 15 minutes, but today i looked at it and 2 hours had gone by since it last checked for email. very annoying.

Fafine 06-02-2009 08:03 PM

Hondaracer 06-03-2009 12:02 PM

Is it really that big a deal? I put a screen protector on my iPhone and was so happy i didn't have air bubbles, but then noticed I have some dust behind it. It was annoying for a while, but I don't care anymore as I hate applying screen protectors.:p

What do you mean? I got my phone from Fido, and the warranty is still valid. Does that mean they will replace my iPhone if it's deemed ineffective?

Also, Should I reset my phone to default prior to bringing it in for service? I'm worried that they won't fix my phone if it's jailbroken and unlocked.

Hondaracer 06-03-2009 08:34 PM

yea reset it to stock settings then call the apple store in pacific center and setup an appointment, you show up show them the problem, they give u a new phone and your out, as long as the problem warrants it

Never crashed for me. But I only make non-skype calls with it @ 2.5c / min.

!MiKrofT 06-07-2009 12:41 AM

Crashes a lot for me.. wonder if going to 2.0.1 firmware will make any difference.
