OMG EXACTLY. About time, I was in this heated arguement in the VOT Forums about the iPhone 3G being "So Cheap". I explicitly said that the 199 will be on a 3 year term, but I go many arguements against that... so... TAKE THAT! Seriously, $699 without the 3 year term sounds more like it.

I sound so...childish. heh.

Rogers announces iPhone 3G plans, unlimited data isn't one of them

Rogers announces iPhone 3G plans, unlimited data isn't one of them

Suddenly, my $30/300Mb Blackberry plan is looking so much better!!! :haha::haha::haha::haha:

Quote:

All the plans from Rogers Wireless require that lovely, three-year contract and include visual voicemail, free evenings and weekends, and unlimited WiFi at all Rogers and Fido hotspots. The plans start at $60/month for 150 minutes of voice and just 400MB of data before topping out at $115/month for 800 minutes voice and up to 2GB of data. None of these plans offer unlimited data as previously rumored.

stuff99 06-27-2008 07:58 AM

ill stick to my $25 for 250 weekday min and unlimited after 6 and weekends and free call display.

kanon23 06-27-2008 09:25 AM

sigh I guess I will be keeping my 903 long time :)

McDick 06-27-2008 09:40 AM

holy.. that will be $85+ (Caller ID included) monthly bill for 3 years just to get an iphone! No Sorry, I am backing off!! Good luck to Rogers and Apple.
Blackberry, here I come... mostly I need it for emails, nothing else.

$3260 (3 years cost) instead of $1260 (my 3 years)... $2000 more for iphone over 3 years.. NO WAY!!!

!MiKrofT 06-27-2008 11:05 AM

I hope you can get this without a data plan.

hongy 06-27-2008 11:26 AM

evenings starting at 9pm isn't a new thing with rogers.

!MiKrofT 06-27-2008 01:53 PM

Tim Budong 06-27-2008 04:19 PM

bossxx 06-27-2008 05:05 PM

My friend says they aren't releasing their iPhones till July 11th.

EgNyTeR 06-27-2008 05:48 PM

LOL. . . Rogers really knows how to screw people up the arse (without the Vaseline too) haha. . . pathetic plans for a phone that really does require unlimited data option. Using the GPS feature, streaming a few videos, music, google maps downloads, and not to mention any other downloads you may do. . . easily go over 400mb a month. I like to see how many people actually will sign up for the iPhone through Fido/Rogers. The iPhone is very cool indeed and a nice status symbol for young people but the way Rogers has priced it, affording one and willing to pay $100/month is just not worth it compared to what else is available out there.

hongy 06-27-2008 05:53 PM

^^^
im betting next september i'll be seeing ALOT of grade 8s with the iphone -.-''

Amen!

McDick 06-27-2008 08:55 PM

the pricing is considered "OK"!... but for 3 years locked-in contract... not worth it at all.
Cause the 3G iPhone will be outdated in one year. You might upgrade to another newer iphone, and signed another 3 years for it? ....

I'll think about it if only required 1-2 years contract. Not 3 years!

death_blossom 06-27-2008 09:39 PM

I know all the 3G iPhone stuff has been beaten to death, but I just wanted to know about the 2.0 upgrade for the old iPhone. With this upgrade, won't all v1.0 owners get the new Google Maps GPS version? I know that the GPS function in the new iPhone also features GPS calculations by cellphone towers and even WiFi. Could those features be useable by the old iPhone?

nope cant. doesnt have gps

92prelude 06-27-2008 10:57 PM

If you run firmware 1.1.4, you do have GPS. If you use google maps, you can locate yourself. Sure it's not going to be some fancy real time GPS unit that is showing you your exact move, but hey, who really needs that?

AX.Deadpool 06-28-2008 03:16 AM

I just came across this article, about the rogers iphone plan. not sure if its any new or old news to anyone here, but take it for what it is.

"These rates are just another indicator that Canadian cellphone rates are really high and that essentially the carriers feel like they can charge whatever they like," she said. "Rates should be going down, they shouldn't be going up, and these are expensive rates."

ienhz 06-28-2008 09:10 AM

rofl 150 minutes and no unlimited data, what a joke.
150 mins + shitty e/w @ 9pm + 400mb = $60 + 6.95 + 7 (CID) + 0.50 + taxes = $84
umm no thanks.
