How do you tell how much data you've used when tethered via 3G? Is it settings > general > usage > cellular network data?

hoking, one quick tip is to make sure that you have changed the file extension, if you do not then redsn0w, pwnagetool, or itunes wont recognize the restore images.

CHANGE FROM THIS... iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw.zip

TO JUST THIS... iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw

hmm gotta try that, no wonder when i unstuff the file, i get a whole bunch of dmg files n others... will try

thanks

Many people who live here have bought iPhones from eBay/other places that are locked to AT&T or other providers outside of Canada. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I also think Rogers locked phones cannot use Fido simcards and vice versa.

... to have an unlocked phone that will accommodate both rogers and fido sim cards. also telus and bell will be rolling out sim cards in the near future...

and for people that travel an unlocked phone is a necessity. roaming charges are for suckers, when you travel wether its to bellingham or hong kong, pick up a local pre-paid sim card and save hundreds of dollars. i travel to the states a fair bit and i fill up a pay as you go at&t sim card and it lasts me quite a while. only 0.10 a minute to the us, 0.25 a min to can, txt messages are cheap, and calls to at&t are free!

i'm pretty sure you are referring to people who have "jailbroken" their phone, as the "unlock" has only been out for like 2days now? There can't be that many,... besides, after "jailbreaking" your phone, it is only an extra step to "unlock" the phone anyways, why not? takes an extra 30s...

"jailbreaking" is referring to being able to install 3rd party apps on the iphone, aside from itunes...

Audi-Quattro 06-23-2009 11:12 PM

Has anyone tried getting their phone replaced due to poor battery life?

kcl38 06-24-2009 12:07 AM

Unlocking is useful when you're trying to sell it. Then you're not limited to selling it to customers using whatever carrier you're on. Thats what I plan to do if I ever sell my phone. :)

I am very aware of what jailbreaking is, I am not new to the iphone.

After having SE's for my last few phones, I picked up an iphone 3GS and I don't see myself ever going back to Sony again. The only thing I miss is the battery life lol

!MiKrofT 06-24-2009 04:55 PM

I love the new call history, SMS and cut and paste. Now I don't need to install Mobilelog and IrealSMS anymore. That and the fact they don't work in 3.0. And Skype. It works so well now. Must have been my old 2.2 firmware that was causing problems.

Hey guys ive had my iphone for 2 weeks now and still searching for a decent case. When i bought it I got one thrown in, it was a hard plastic "case mate" that just covers the back and it came with the sticker screeen protector that i got the saleman to put on for me. This was working good until it started peeling off and dirt was gathering so i took it off. I went and bought these other screen protectors, a sticker thing for the front and back and came with a spray, but it pissed me off, stuck to my finger, got finger prints on the sticker thing then dirt got on it, when i finally got it on so many air bubbles, couldnt get them out with cred card, and to top it off it wasent on properly so fuck this, i brought it back, then i got the wave case seemed to work good for a bit then noticed it wouldnt line up and click together properly after taking it apart a few times. Then i got this naked case which is bulky and heavy and kinda sucks too. LOL i just cant seem to find a decent case and i cant apply the sticker ones worth shit...any advice

03aspec 06-24-2009 06:40 PM

my favorite is the incase slider case, i have the black matte one. best case ever.

hotjoint 06-24-2009 07:46 PM

Invisible shield > all cases

Aesthetically the most pleasing, but no impact protection whatsoever. I have a silicon case that doesn't bloat the phone's size too much, but provides a modicrum of protection if I drop the phone.

Wow you've had your iphone for over a year and don't know how to move icons?
Just tap and hold onto any icon and then they will start to wiggle. You can then delete certain ones or move any one to rearrange to your liking.

saveth 06-24-2009 09:44 PM

my brother forgot his iphone on top of the car once and drove 3km before remembering. Thanks to the silicone case, it didnt fly off the car.
