whats the howardforums source for cydia? howardforums.us is not working for me :(

Anyone having problems setting up tethering atm? I can't even get usb tethering to work, much less bluetooth.

anyone here who own iphone 3GS here having the same situation as this?
LINK, getting too warm or overheating?

a buddy of mine notice his 3gs(white version) is often getting too warm whenever he play games/music within 20min of time.

i don't know if this is true but say you bring your iphone to the states, i heard that any text message you receive in the states will count as a roaming charge

doesnt matter what phone you have, if you receive or send a text message in the states then you will pay the current out of country rate. right now i think it is $0.75 per text, doesnt matter if you have a text plan or not, this is on top of that...

... basically anything that you do with your phone out of country, call, text, data, are all extra charges on top of your monthy plan and feature packs.

is there anyone else out there having wifi problems? the refurb i got from the apple store, will not connect to my wifi at home when everything else does. my old 3g used to work just fine and the 2g works as well. i did a little poking around on tipb and apparently its a software issue with 3.0 and apple is aware of it.

Update, Apple store gave me a replacement. Probably a refurbished phone but with a new casing.

So lately I have been getting constant speaker interference from my iPhone sitting in its dock. Not constant as in it happens right before my phone goes, but it NEVER stops. Also I lost a full charge in about 5 hours of having it on but not using it. Could the 2 be related? What should I do to fix it :s

Ok, so this may have been mentioned some where, at some time already, but I have no time to look (I'm sorry!!!!!).
As of today on my lunch break, my iPhone 2G doesn't want to utilize the very bottom of the screen while only txting. I can open up my phone app and still change from the number pad, to voicemail, ect. When I open my sms app, the very bottom of the screen will not read that I am touching it. I can, however, just open up a new window for some one and start txting them there, but it's quite annoying not having a space bar, or being able to use any numbers, or punctuation.
If the only solution to my problem would be reformat my phone, would 3.0 be a good candidate? My phone is not unlocked, and jailbroken using firmware 2.1.1. Would I have to jailbreak firmware 3.0 to have my iphone back in working condition? (at this point I dont care about having any extra stuff) I just need my phone to be able to work properly!!
please help :(

is your phone set to shut off at all? in your setting you have a choice of 2-5 minutes or NEVER. check it out. is your wifi on all the time? non stop interferrence would indicate your cell is calling our or recieving a call in some way. hence your short battery life IMO

It turns out it was something wrong with my IM+. I uninstalled it, went to Installuous and got an older version without push. I was using 3.1 and I turned off push but it was still draining the battery. I just got rid of it and it worked. :thumbsup:

will upgrading to 3.0 get rid of all your settings for your installous apps? Is there a way to back that up?

so has anyones iphone been acting up lately and it freezes? or the screen turns black but you can still recieve calls but you cant move the bar to answer the phone?

lately my phone have been freezing usually after a call, and 2 of my buddies iphones freezes at random times also.

^^ Sounds like you need a reformat....it would be too much trouble to research and fix that problem IMO......and 3.0 is so much better than 2.1.1 anyways....=P

As for mine.....I just upgrade + JB my iphone to 3.0....but I didn't restore the phone before I upgraded....
So right now I think there are alot of Cydia files that are stuck somewhere wasting all my memories....

Is it possible to open SSH and clean everything up in there? But I wouldn't know which files I'm not suppose to delete....

Thats what I thought. Will I be able to load 3.0 on without having to re-jailbreak and continue to use my phone regularly?
I am unsure as to how you would open SSH and figure out what to delete, since I have never done any of that myself. I am sure another user can guide you in the right direction though :)

.... Totally not what I meant... I know how to jailbreak my phone, I just dont want to invest the time it takes since I'm trying to get ready for a camping trip tomorrow and stuff.
I just want to know if I load 3.0 on my 2G iphone (that is NOT unlocked) will be able to use it? Or will it go all lame and act like the first day I got it with firmware 1.1 which made me result in jailbreaking.

how are u running a 2g iphone in canada that is not unlocked?

Started with jailbreaking and using a stealth sim. Now I just have it jailbroken... if I update to 3.0 will i still need a soft unlock? (like re-jailbreaking) Or can I just update and pop in my simcard and go?

upgrade to 3.0 from itunes first, you wont be able to use phone, but jailbreak and unlock using redsnow and you will be good to go. its really easy.

indeed. i have like 5 pages of apps now and each page has 5 rows (app from Cydia)

now i installed ultrasn0w, how can i check if its unlocked WITHOUT another SIM card?

havn't figure out how to add additional plugin but the most important ones are there. Mail, sms and missed call pop up when need and dissapears when not. All section is collapsible.
