i did end up getting it, but i hated it. i did figure out my iphone woes though, i sold it. now using a blackberry 8900, being able to have shit running in the background is a huge deal for me.

have you tried buffing ur bezel with scotch brite pad? if it does the same thing as the bezel blaster, u'll save me $8 :thumbsup:

Anyone else with a jailbroken iPhone having issues upgrading to 3.0.1? I followed the instructions on the Dev-Team website:

"Just let iTunes update or restore you to official 3.0.1 then run redsn0w. The only “trick” is that when redsn0w asks you to identify the IPSW used, point it at the 3.0 IPSW instead of the 3.0.1 one. "

I tried to restore my jailbroken 3.0 iPhone to official 3.0.1 firmware and it failed. Now my phone constantly boots into the screen that says "connect to iTunes", and I cannot update or restore in iTunes to 3.0 or 3.0.1.

I'm on 3.0.1 JB without any issues. I just updated, didnt do a restore. Use Redsnow and point it to the 3.0 ipsw when it asks for it. That's it.

WOOHOOO! got my black 32GB today jaibroke and unlocked in 5 min (3.0 firmware) and only 2+ hours to fill up the full 32 GB with movies (41 full length movies) and apps (20 or so).

click on "Frozen" to install cydia. open cydia and click sources, edit, add, type in repo666.ultrasn0w.com, install. now click on repo666.ultrasn0w.com, select ultrasn0w, install. voila -> unlocked 3GS

What's the best way to get installous on my iphone 3g running on 3.0 firmware.

I have cydia and another app called icy, i tried downloading installous from cydia but it failed for some reason.

saw the commercial for 3gs... it shows two iphones and they seem to be playing scrabble together? with two phones? so wifi between phones like ds/psp kind of thing... does regular iphones have that option?

when you add the sources make sure the address is

then try installing Installous again

Yeah it's wifi link and works with non 3GS as well.

OK I BOUGHT THIS I PHONE 3G OFF SOME DUDE AND IT HAS LIKE 2000 SONGS IN IT RIGHT, BUT IT ALSO HAS REALLY SWEET PAID GAMES ON IT OK, I HAD A 2G I PHONE AND ON MY I TUNES LIBRARY IT SHOWS THAT I CAN SYNC THE I PHONE WITH MY OLD I PHONE BUT IT WILL ERASE THE EXISTING STUFF OFF MY NEW I PHONE, ALL I REALLY WANT TO DO IS GET RID OF ALL THE MUSIC BUT KEEP THE APPS, IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN KEEP ALL THE APPS BUT GET RID OF THE 2000 SONGS

Paid apps as in the phone isn't jailbroken? You'll probably lose the apps on the phone since the authorization won't match.

multiplayer thru wifi has always been there, but its does not work like a psp/ds where the console itself created a wifi channel for other consoles to join in.

which means that you have to be on the same wifi channel as the person youa re playing with. completely useless as usually when you want to play a game with your buddy at the restaurant or something there will not be an open wifi to connect to


3.0 implemented bluetooth multiplayer that will solve this. but I havn't test that out not sure if it works on the 2g.

Hey guys, i just updated my phone to 3.0.1 last night and i already jail broke it but for some reason things feel laggy on my phone. For example when typing a text msg the letters seem to lag? Does anyone else experience this?

Also, some things i installed from cydia doesnt work now. (SMS background, different keyboard etc)
=( I'm so sad! Is something wrong with my phone? or is it 3.0.1? Cuz everything was working fine when i had 2.2.1

lilgurl. a lot of apps are firmware specific. when you upgrade there is a good chance some older apps or customizations won't work.

the one i miss most is wifi toggle. i button press to turn wifi on or off.

however there is a BT toggle now.

you just have to be patient till the updates come out (if ever)

It's funny, I bought a 16gb 3gs, Jailbroken but I had to unlock it,
when I checked the iPhone's "About" settings, it says that I have approx 14gb of memory. Where is the rest of the 2gb? The only downloaded apps I have would be Cydia and Icy. Nothing else. I made sure that the contacts and music and all the information was deleted, and i'm a few GB short. is it to do with hidden free space?

This happened to my USB a while back where I deleted all my content from my USB but when I checked, it would still show 'used' memory as if the files were still there.. insteresting..

I downloaded the BT Toggle but it doesnt work for me? I tap the icon and it says turning bluetooth on but it doesnt turn on and same with turning it off

Also, is your battery life for 3.0 bad? For me its horrible. For example before i sleep my phone is at 100%, then when i wake up the battery life has decreased a lot. Is it because of this new firmware?

batterylife is still good for me. many factors in determining battery life.

you can save power by:
turning off 3G
turning off wifi and BT when not in use
turn screen briteness down

etc.

my batt goes down maybe 5-10% only overnight.

the BT app i used is called BT swap.

i just upgradeded to 3.0.1 firmware and confirm it works. the bt icon pops up at the top of the screen.

weird thing happened with my 3GS this morning. as i was scrolling through some websites i noticed the screen was jittering up and down and not scrolling smoothly. the same happened to my volume control in the iPod.

i decided to reboot the iPhone. bad mistake.

the phone then refusesed to boot past the Apple logo and hung there for over 5 minutes. then the macromedia timer icon would run a bit then the whole screen would sort of get static-ey and shut down and restart. this continued and i couldnt enter DFU mode either.

eventually i just tried itunes to update to 3.0.1 firmware and had to re JB my phone. didn't lose any critical data tho.

anyone else have this issue?

my phone is only 1 week old.

Try reflashing your firmware completely. It helped on my other iphone.
