3.1 jailbreak is out via PwnageTool for Mac only!! For now, it only works for iPhone 2G and iPhone 3G. 3GS owners still have to wait.

I just successfully jailbroke my friend's 3.1 iPhone 3G. The new Pwnage Tool works great.

since wednesday the 3rd, you are now required to have an internet connection to flash firmware through iTunes, as well as having firmware 3.1 as the ONLY option. all other firmwares will be rendered invalid.

now...does anyone have a HACKED version of iTunes that doesnt require an internet connection or bypasses the firmware check via Apple servers?

or any software thatcan flash any firmware, that is NOT iTunes?

ok can someone with a JB 3GS ssh into their phone and send me a copy of their "com.apple.Springboard.plist" file? i need to bypass the initial boot drive mapping to kickstart my phone. preferably a freshly JBed phone with nothing installed yet.

Yeah you're gonna need some updated pwnagetool cause you'll need to preserve your current baseband since you need to unlock. And the only way to do that is to make a custom IPSW with your current baseband + 3.1 firmware.

i swear i am soo fking close to updating to 3.1, just so i can use my Jesus Phone again.

^if i can make it any worse for you, i just got my 3g in the mail and luckily it had the 3.0 firmware installed into it so i just jailbroke it and I am now enjoying the apps i had from my 2g iphone!

^^^ it should be for 3.1 firmware. whatever the case is goto the modmyi forums and read up in the 3g[s] downgrading, its pretty fking important to anyone with a 3GS


if you didn't click it before it was removed, you won't ever be able to, for older firmwares (3.0 and 3.0.1) currently only registering 3.1 firmwares.
