3.1 jailbreak is out via PwnageTool for Mac only!! For now, it only works for iPhone 2G and iPhone 3G. 3GS owners still have to wait.

Have you tried using sauriks server from cydia? http://www.saurik.com/id/12
Should bypass apple's activation requirement. But not sure if it'll work for you.

i didnt get my hash in time so the window has closed  i do have my ECID # tho.
i have tried literally everything under the sun. I'm just gonna run rock my HTC TyTn till the Dev team comes through with a JB for 3.1

Yeah you're gonna need some updated pwnagetool cause you'll need to preserve your current baseband since you need to unlock. And the only way to do that is to make a custom IPSW with your current baseband + 3.1 firmware.

^if i can make it any worse for you, i just got my 3g in the mail and luckily it had the 3.0 firmware installed into it so i just jailbroke it and I am now enjoying the apps i had from my 2g iphone!

i had a dream last night that i got my phone out of the reboot loop. then i woke up.
edit: dammit i was sooo close! I USED AN OLD VERSION OF ITUNES AND IT ACTUALLY STARTED TO RESTORE, then i crashed when it said verifying.
thats the closest i came to fixing this POS!!!! arrg. iTunes 8.1.1.10

over a week (since my phone crashed) and still no pwnage for 3.1
however i did manage to get back to the springboard. too bad i only have 2 icons. no phone no ipod no dock. just youtube and cydia lol. and neither work. weird i can sync some apps over and they work too.

^^^ it should be for 3.1 firmware. whatever the case is goto the modmyi forums and read up in the 3g[s] downgrading, its pretty fking important to anyone with a 3GS
if you didn't click it before it was removed, you won't ever be able to, for older firmwares (3.0 and 3.0.1) currently only registering 3.1 firmwares.
Apple screwed us 3G[S] owners good.
