does anyone know if there's a way to get the files you recorded off that voice demo recorder?

goo3 09-28-2009 07:03 PM

what's new in 3.1? Worth upgrading?

My friends are all starting to get this Ping! app. Its supposed to be like Blackberry Messenger but for iPhones. Personally, I don't understand what makes it different from any other instant messenger app on the iPhone. The reason why BBM is so successful is that its built into all BB's, and works without a data plan, and works while roaming but without cost. As far as I can tell, Ping! uses data, and unlike BBM it cannot run in the background, it must be actively running for you to receive messages.

Hondaracer 09-29-2009 04:05 PM

stupid then.. why not just text? :/

is there any reason for me to JB 3.1 or w/e is the current firmware?

i havent been JB for quite some time now, and the only features i really used were the customiziation apps, not really anything else, anything new i should want?

It uses Push, so you'll receive messages even when the app isn't running. It's similar to most IM programs for the iphone though. Tried it today, meh....I'll keep it on my iphone but probably won't be using it much anyways. It will not be as big as BBM or even close to it imo.

Unlimited SMS + other IM program on my iphone is enough.

threezero 09-29-2009 05:34 PM

^^^ the only bad thing abt it is that it use data.

and not paying extra for text was the whole point. you still have to pay data. major fail

MTV Cribs 09-30-2009 01:43 AM

Reading the description of the ping app it says you don't need a data plan which is misleading unless they are talking about using wifi only. The person you want to message also must have a iPhone or iPod touch with ping install so your contact list is going to be very limited. I don't know why everyone is going crazy over this. Maybe because it's free

JSALES 09-30-2009 03:51 PM

ping sucks for the iphone, i don't know if it's just me but it takes forever for me to receive the message. texting is much faster

Hondaracer 10-01-2009 06:03 PM

Is there any shortcut to refresh a page rather then scrolling all the way to the page and doing it

Yup only works for pre pwned phones though. I should try it on my mac.

Also. There is no unlock for 3.1 due to baseband update which is why pwnagetool works. Ultrasn0w won't work with 3.1 radio and who knows how long it will take them to crack it.

Psykopathik 10-03-2009 10:51 AM

^^supposedly all you need is the custom made IPSW and you can just restore thru iTunes 9 right?

if so,

can you send me your custom IPSW or make me one. i have no access to a mac :(
many thanks, ive been phoneless for 3 weeks now :crybaby:

edit NM here it is: http://www.xsellize.com/showthread.php?t=65374

this will only work for people already jailbroken on 3.0 or 3.0.1

3.1 users, you're Shit outta luck

Yay! my phone is back online!

EDIT:
WARNING !!! DON'T INSTALL WINTERBOARD YET. it will brick you again

Lol. Guess you found it already. Yeah it's as simple as creating a custom IPSW to preserve the baseband. Actually. For fresh outta the box 3.1 users I think you can downgrade to 3.0 jailbreak then apply 3.1 custom.

no you cant. if you don't have the ECID info (for 3.0/3.0.1) stored on Cydia, you can NEVER go back to 3.0 or 3.0.1

lucky for me my phone bricked when i was still on 3.0.1 it was still JBed so i could update. good thing i held off going to 3.1 (nearly did out of desperation)

there isnt a JB for brand new phones on 3.1 and up.

i can't even go back to 3.0 or 3.0.1

rsx 10-04-2009 04:37 PM

how the hell do you add contacts on PING?

hotjoint 10-05-2009 10:06 AM

:lol ping doesnt even work on my phone, it loads and just says connecting please wait and never connects, i'll stick to my text messages :)

trd2343 10-06-2009 08:30 PM

Should I hold off on getting the 3GS, since it isn't jailbreakable yet? (or go for something else, iPhone alternatives)

JSALES 10-06-2009 09:32 PM

quick question. is it true that the blackberry data plan is a bit cheaper than the iphone data plan? heard this from a friend

Nintensity 10-07-2009 02:18 AM

it's not cheaper, just the device itself determines the data usage consumption.

For example,
If the iPhone and the Blackberry was playing the same video from youtube.com, then the amount of data sent and received would be more on the iPhone than the Blackberry.

If you can get a 3GS with 3.0 or 3.0.1 firmware you're good to go.
