mine has like hours of lag before i reciev for some reason.

i think my iphone is bricked.
battery is full, i reset the phone cause the speaker stopped working.
after turning off, it wont turn back on. black screen.
plugged into computer, says its in recovery mode.
fails the restore and update, black screen again.
am i fucked?

I launched Cydia yesterday and it asked me to store this. I did. But how do you retrieve the info when you need it?

How do I restore an unlocked and jailbroken iphone 3g on firmware 3.0? I dont want to lose the unlock and jailbreak.

If you want to keep unlock you'll need to use pwnage tool to preserve baseband on 3.1 firmware. From what Turbo E says you can't flash an older firmware anymore.

Just wondering, but how much data does the iphone generally use? I know its probably a lot. Will I top off 500mb if I just use apps like echofon and msn and push email. I'll refrain from using safari unless I'm on wifi since I'm pretty sure thats going to get me to 500mb really really fast. Also would apps like google maps use a lot of data or there any other gps alternatives? I have the 3g coming from an E71.

i might not be the best person to answer this, because i dont use my phone for much other than maps, internet and email (two busy accounts)... but i've only got just over 1gb of data TOTAL (1.052 to be exact) and i got my 3g in sept 08.

ive only had my data plan for less than a month (25 days to be exact and 5 more days to go) and ive only used up 401.06MB out of my 1 gig. Alot of the data that was used was mostly from internet radio though. Using safari doesnt use up data that much. Are you going to be using it for rogers? if so then just keep track of your usage online.

1 month. Racked up about 650mb out of 6gb. That's including the times I tethered.. Hmm. I need to use more lol.

I use like 300mb/month and I have the 6gb plan, lol. I need to start using my data a little more often.

if you phone is currently Jailbroken you can just downlaod a custom fimware that anyone made with pwnage tool 3.1.3, and use itunes to install it.

you will be jailbroken on 3.1

from there go into cydia and install the the repo666.ultrasn0w.com source and then install ultrasn0w.

set up your phone as new then off you go.

dont forget to hit the "make my life easier" button in cydia if you haven't already

you need to edit your host file found in d C: \windows\system32\drivers\etc
with "notepad" and add the following to the end:

74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com

this will point iTunes to the Cydia server and your stored ECID info to allow you to restore to 3.1.

Blackra1n is amazing. jailbroke my 3GS on version 3.1.2. so easy to jailbreak haha

Hey TurboE, thanks for the info but question for you, is it safe to install Winterboard yet? Have you tried to re-install it after this procedure or will it "brick" your phone again? Oh and did you have to install blackra1n in order to jailbreak it? I've found a few sources that say it "should" be already unlocked and cydia should already be present after updating to 3.1.
