just got my iphone 3gs today and im wondering since i got a fido contract, if i were to travel overseas say hong kong will i be able to use their sim card without unlocking it ? fairly new to iphone's function and not sure if i should jail break using blackrain 3.1.2

ForbiddenX 10-12-2009 10:15 PM

^Nope, I'm pretty sure you're going to need to get an unlocked iphone to be able to use a different carriers Sim

The past couple days I've only used about 16mb of data, I've only been out a couple days and most of it was because I was downloading some apps. I should stop downloading apps when I'm not home, it'll eat up all my data. I haven't tried any GPS type of program yet cause I'm scared it'll top off my data really really fast. I can't monitor it right now since the data usage thing is broken for me on the rogers site.

Also, what are some recommended free or "paid" apps and games should I download?
Right now I have
Facebook
Tweetie 2
Skype
IM+ (Any other recomendations for a messenger?)
Ping! (add romeld if you want :P)
Winterboard

If you're gonna buy an IM app. Forget IM+ and go with BeejiveIM. It's way faster on the reconnects and feels nicer overall.

iBlacklist works well for stopping spam calls.

I updated to itunes 9.0.1

now every time i sync my iphone i get the your iphone is no longer authorize with this computer 2 applications will be deleted
when I press authorize type in my password, it either get stuck on connecting to itunes, or it will go right back to the "iphone is no longer authorize with this computer" popup

I try deauthorize than reauthorize, same thing. Than i try deleting the sc info folder as suggested by apples, same thing but now the pop up say all 47 of my PAY apps will be deleted if it don't authorize. than again stuck at the same loop.

anybody else having this problem?

So if MobileMe works in the background to track the iPhone via GPS, how come Google Latitude can't do the same? The Google Latitude app is handicapped and will only report the iPhone's location when the app is active.

Psykopathik 10-16-2009 07:10 AM

mobile me is a paid service. you need a subscription.

Psykopathik 10-17-2009 11:03 AM

coolness. press home and power while watching a movie and you can take a screen cap. i didnt know it worked in the ipod too.

ForbiddenX 10-17-2009 09:24 PM

^Awesome, it works outside of videos too.

Thanks for the list of apps Turbo E and EX-R I downloaded several of them. I can't get beejive to work though, keeps telling me i have an invalid key or something, oh well haha.

Also is there a big quality difference in those mp3 cassette things? I wanna use my iphone to play music in the car. Or is it better to just use an FM transmitter?

Psykopathik 10-17-2009 10:36 PM

casette is more direct with less chance of interferrance. i have tried FM tuners. most are lacking in many ways.

Does it matter which brand or do they all have the same quality?

Iceman_2K 10-18-2009 03:57 PM

iphone 2g for the win...lol.....has any one really noticed a difference in data between the two?

tgill 10-18-2009 09:07 PM

rock band for iphone is hands down the best rhythm game on the iphone

too bad apple locks out the 4 player local bluetooth multiplayer for us 1st gen iphone owners  (what bullshit the 3g and first gen have the same bluetooth chip)

games runs super smooth (wayway better than taptaprevenge3)
has vocals (pitch matching no singing), drums, bass, and lead guitar

AWESOME GAME
if you have trouble acquiring it off of appulous because it being down just pm:thumbsup:

pretty well all the same. although a thicker cabled one will reduce possible interferrance from the car's electrical system. sounds like a whining noise that follows the speed of the car.

"Fast and Furious" is based on the Real Racing game engine. its not bad.

Ikkaku 10-19-2009 02:01 PM

I find the real noise problem from cassette decks is just the clicking noise from the tapes itself, aside from that it's pretty decent... especially when you can get it for cheap ;)

currently I'm playing FIFA10 and I Love Katamari on my phone :lol
