rock band for iphone isnt really rock band. Its tap tap revolutiion for every instrument including vocals.

anyone know where i can pickup a 3gs in the GVR off-contract, (like at a store) perferably unlocked and brand new? it's going to be a christmas gift so.. preferably not opened. But understandable if it's opened because it had to get unlocked or whatever.

edit: on the side note, can the iphone 3g/3gs be perm unlocked? or does it get re-locked with every itunes firmware update?

The only permanent unlocked phones is the iphone 2g. Or if you're baller and have a factory unlocked one which is rare.

Thinking about jail-breaking to 3.1.2 with Blackra1n, instead of waiting for the PC version of purplera1n to come out which I doubt will be coming out anytime soon.

Are their any disadvantages to Blackra1n? I remember reading the iphone dev blogs about custom ipsw most likely not being supported by blackra1n if you JB using that program. Is that still true? Will upgrading to blackra1n hurt my chances are future jail-breaking?

There is no unlock solution for 3.1.2 just jailbreak.

Blackra1n works fine for the 3g after its been upgraded to 3.1.2

i did my friend's 3G using blackra1n on 3.1 - just took a long time to do.

so.. jailbreak = unlocked (temp solution, obviously not perm.)

Just curious, is it a lot easier to move music, pictures and files when a phone is jailbroken? It's a pain in the ass through itunes.

edit: the hell is with the activation process of the 3GS? Is it even possible to walk into rogers store, buy the phone off contract without the rogers people unsealing the box? Kinda lame if the present im giving is already unsealed.

Jailbreaking only allows installng 3rd party apps. Unlocking is a seperate thing.

nope, you can tell them not to open it. and that you will do the activation at home. it is super simple and i activated it myself at home.

Anyone notice some of the apps on installous do not have a download link?
i'm trying to d/l TomTom Hong Kong maps and when I scroll to the bottom of the page, there isn't a download link. Same deal when going on the appulo site from my desktop. Any ideas?
