You're definitely right.

But Salo's kick is a question of whether it warrants a delay of game penalty or not. It stems down to: what is the difference between using a stick or a leg.

It is not IMO, a safety issue as the Kesler, Zednik & Malarchuk incident were just freak accidents. Salo's kick for the clear attempt and the blade exposure was shin high at best. Now, if we see a growing trend of hockey players kicking as high as Martial Artist's in an attempt to clear the puck, then maybe we should revisit that rule

It is this particular reason that you can redirect the puck with your skates into the net and have the goal stand whereas the goal will be disallowed if there is any kicking motion.

As far as Salo's kicking the puck out of play, perhaps the league may need take a look into this if it happens again. I wonder how often this has happened in the NHL?

I think it was totally a fluke. I don't think anyone can purposely kick a puck out of the rink like that. The puck was off the ice when contact was made.

As for kicking people with their skates in an attempt to injure, the Russians were accused of it during the 72 series. Phil Esposito and company were pretty miffed by it. As soon as the Canadian team went into the boards in a scrum, the godless commies would kick the Canadians with their skates. Bastards..... we all saw it. I think it may have been over blown back then. Perhaps someone has footage of the stuff.?

Legwork has always been a part of the game, and good players incorporate legwork with stickhandling. I think the league has it right that the only limitation to legwork with hockey is that you can't kick a goal in.

Unlike using a stick, kicking a puck out of play and to clear the glass is absolutely difficult, and almost impossible unless by chance. I say leave the rules as they are, it's not like this is a common phenomenon and a clear abuse of delay of game.

I believe the only reason Salo got away from kicking the puck out of the rink was because there was nothing written about it in the rule book. As Noir said, it's absolutely difficult, and probably impossible unless it was done on a bouncing puck.

But there is really no difference between kicking the puck out and shooting the puck out. Either way, I'm sure no one intentionally does it, but if it happens, it should be ruled the same as shooting the puck out the rink with a stick (when done in the defensive zone).

I watched the video and there was that one play where Salo kicks the back of the skates of Rene Bourque and knocks him down. Though I do not agree with that play, it is borderline tripping, I agree with Noir. As a forward, to be able to play in that area, they must be able to pay the price. That is the area where guys go to pick up the garbage goals and screen the opposition's goalie.

I play D, and trust me, I make the forwards of the opposing teams pay just to stand near the net.

Find some friends and split the cost or go to a bar and get some beers. I can't stand watching games in tiny little windows. Heck, I can barely stand it when it isn't HD.

Canucks TV Pay-Per-View now in high definition
Canucks PPV in HD starts October 13th @ Washington
Vancouver Canucks
Oct 7, 2008, 11:58 AM EDT

Vancouver, BC – The Vancouver Canucks and CanucksTV announced today that for the first time in club history, all Pay-Per-View Canucks games this season will be available in High-definition as well as Standard-definition. The Canucks will be broadcasting 12 Pay-per-view games during the 2008-2009 regular season.

CanucksTV will usher in the season by offering HD for the first Pay-Per-View game scheduled October 13th at Washington. With some providers, customers can choose Standard-definition, at $139.95 for the full-season package, or High-definition at $169.95. Single games are available for $15.95 per game in HD, and $12.95 per game in Standard Definition.

“We are very pleased to be able to provide every CanucksTV broadcast this season in High-definition,” said Canucks President and CEO, Chris Zimmerman. “We are committed to delivering the highest quality product to our fans and believe this represents a major step towards reaching that goal. Viewers asked for more HD games and CanucksTV will provide it on each of the 12 games broadcast in Pay-Per-View during the 2008-09 season.”

Some of the highlights offered this season include Alex Ovechkin’s Washington Capitals taking on the Canucks during their October 13th match-up, Dany Heatley and the Ottawa Senators’ first meeting at General Motors Place since the Canucks shootout win in 2005, and a highly anticipated match-up against the Montreal Canadiens on February 15th.

Q & A from Health Canada

Q: The Stanley Cup was recently on tour in my town, and I kissed it. Do I have to worry about being infected by listeria?

A: You are safe. The Stanley Cup has not been in contact with any Maple Leaf product in over 40 years.

ABC News' Jake Tapper reports that the booing was so prevalent that the music had to be cranked up to "deafening" levels in order to compete with the fans from the city of Brotherly Love.
LoL! I watched the video before reading this, and I was wondering why the music seemed to be incredibly loud.

haha, I like watching it on my comp, then I can multitask. I don't mind, I'm not a picky person when it comes to watching hockey. Only when it's movies and shows, it gotta be good quality.

That was a pretty good one. haha.
Unfortunately, the Canucks haven't had a cup in 38 years

I have to head over to the in-laws for dinner tonight. Maybe I should be the good son-in-law and spring the $$$ for the PPV since my father-in-law is a huge hockey fan.

I know this isn't about the Canucks but on a side not New York Ranger prospect Alexei Cherepanov collapsed on the bench at or near the end of Omsk's Kontinental Hockey League game today.

Medical personnel were attempting to revive him.

No further details at this point.

Hope he's ok.
