I highly doubt Camallari was trying to round house kick Kesler in the head. | You're definitely right.
But Salo's kick is a question of whether it warrants a delay of game penalty or not. It stems down to: what is the difference between using a stick or a leg.
It is not IMO, a safety issue as the Kesler, Zednik & Malarchuk incident were just freak accidents. Salo's kick for the clear attempt and the blade exposure was shin high at best. Now, if we see a growing trend of hockey players kicking as high as Martial Artist's in an attempt to clear the puck, then maybe we should revisit that rule |

As far as Salo's kicking the puck out of play, perhaps the league may need take a look into this if it happens again. I wonder how often this has happened in the NHL?

The puck was off the ice when contact was made.
As for kicking people with their skates in an attempt to injure, the Russians were accused of it during the 72 series. Phil Esposito and company were pretty miffed by it. As soon as the Canadian team went into the boards in a scrum, the godless commies would kick the Canadians with their skates. Bastards..... we all saw it. I think it may have been over blown back then. Perhaps someone has footage of the stuff.?

I think the league has it right that the only limitation to legwork with hockey is that you can't kick a goal in. Quote:

I wonder how often this has happened in the NHL? | Unlike using a stick, kicking a puck out of play and to clear the glass is absolutely difficult, and almost impossible unless by chance. I say leave the rules as they are, it's not like this is a common phenomenon and a clear abuse of delay of game.

I believe the only reason Salo got away from kicking the puck out of the rink was because there was nothing written about it in the rule book. As Noir said, it's absolutely difficult, and probably impossible unless it was done on a bouncing puck.
But there is really no difference between kicking the puck out and shooting the puck out. Either way, I'm sure no one intentionally does it, but if it happens, it should be ruled the same as shooting the puck out the rink with a stick (when done in the defensive zone).

Though I do not agree with that play, it is borderline tripping, I agree with Noir. As a forward, to be able to play in that area, they must be able to pay the price. That is the area where guys go to pick up the garbage goals and screen the opposition's goalie.
I play D, and trust me, I make the forwards of the opposing teams pay just to stand near the net.

Q & A from Health Canada
Q: The Stanley Cup was recently on tour in my town, and I kissed it. Do I have to worry about being infected by listeria?
A: You are safe. The Stanley Cup has not been in contact with any Maple Leaf product in over 40 years.

I know this isn't about the Canucks but on a side not New York Ranger prospect Alexei Cherepanov collapsed on the bench at or near the end of Omsk's Kontinental Hockey League game today.
Medical personnel were attempting to revive him.
No further details at this point.
Hope he's ok.

Just read the news about Cherepanov. Hopefully he's okay and won't be another Jiri Fischer incident. It'd be a shame to lose a guy with his talent.
