After Kyle Wellwood gets an assist on the Bernier goal, Shorthouse says "and that will hurt Wellwood's Cy Young chances".

I'm a baseball fan, and I still have no idea what that means?

Watching the Canuck's 5-3 powerplay, I can see a few minor issues.
Their passes are too slow. The 2 point men stand where they are and play hot potatoes. Back and forth, back and forth...
The 2 point men stand just in the middle between the top of the faceoff circle and blue line.
The 2 point men need to move more. Get the penalty killers to chase the puck and tire themselves out. Use the powerplay to their advantage. The Wild was using 2 guys on the point and one down low. The point men need to look at the 3 forwards down low like how they scored that PP goal.

i think its cause Wellwood had 8 goals and only 1 assist, hence 8-1. Now with the assist he's 8-2, which would be a worse record for a pitcher...

at least thats all i could think of..

Sanford looks pretty good in net. Need to take the lead and put the Wild back on their heels.

Yes I understand that, but I have no idea why he made the comment. sil-300's explanation about the goals and assist stats matching up like the win-loss stat in baseball kind of makes sense.

When I think Cy Young I usually think ERA first lol...so I'm like, how does an assist raise Wellwood's ERA? lol

Loved the celebration in the end. I almost shed a tear of joy. Anyone see the interview with Sandford after the game? "You know... x 10000" Nice win for the Canucks + Sanford!

I must say, Sandford looked good tonight. He was square to the play, position was very sound. Rebound control was not Luongo good, but far from bad.
He looked a little shaky against Buffalo, but tonight he looked really strong.
Thumbs up to his play tonight.

BTW, what's with Wellwood and his shiner?

I've always believed in Sanford. You watch him in practices and you can tell he's no slouch. Great team guy, too.

I just heard on the broadcast that AV is the winningest coach in the NHL. I know he hasn't coached for anywhere near as long as some of the more seasoned dinosaurs out there, but I like what he does with the team. Gillis wants a more exciting team. AV delivers. I also think the addition of Ryan Walters has helped the team a whole lot this season.

Anyway, soaking it in while they're on this roll..........
