Luongo was seen walking without crutches, so it is possible the injury isn't as severe as originally thought. Keep your fingers crossed.
| As reassuring as that is, it's also quite hazardous to underestimate an injury. I'd rather take the hit in standings and Luongo take an extra time off in addition to the ensure for proper recuperation instead of getting him back on the saddle prematurely. Could fuck him up for life.

If it's true that he's walking without crutches then he should be back after two or three weeks. A serious groin injury hurts like fuck and while I'm no NHL goalie, I know that you couldn't possibly walk around on one easily.

If Luongo was really out for 4-5 weeks, I don't see that as a problem. Not like 3-4 months. I think it could do the Canucks some good without Luongo doing all the work. Might teach the other players to play better without relying on the goaltender. I know Canucks are still capable of winning regardless anyway. I just hope they focus on today's game instead of worrying so much about Luongo right now.

Ask Sanford. He pulled his groin couple years ago with St. Louis and was suppose to be out for only 2-3 weeks but ended up been out for 3 months. I seriously hope it's only a minor pull.

I've pulled my groin in hockey before and I can tell ya it sucks, you have to be very careful because it could feel fine after a week or 2 but you have to watch out cause one movement could pull/tear it again and it's very possible to be worse then it was before.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP)—Roberto Luongo has a strained groin muscle and the Vancouver Canucks’ star goalie is expected to be sidelined at least a week—maybe longer.
A two-time Vezina Trophy finalist, Luongo was injured five minutes into Saturday’s 3-1 victory at Pittsburgh and didn’t put any weight on his left leg while being helped off the ice by teammates. He had an MRI exam Monday and the Canucks announced the diagnosis after consulting with team doctors.
Luongo was listed as week to week with an adductor muscle strain in his groin.
“He’s irreplaceable, obviously,” said backup goalie Curtis Sanford, scheduled to start Monday night against Detroit.
Luongo was expected to meet with reporters just before Vancouver’s game against the defending Stanley Cup champions.
The Canucks’ captain was tied for second in the NHL in wins with an 11-5-2 record. He was seventh in save percentage at .928 and 10th in goals-against average at 2.10 despite a slow start to the season in October.
In November, Luongo is 5-1-2 with a 95.9 save percentage. He leads the league with five shutouts, including three in a row from Nov. 4-8.
“This is a great challenge for our group,” Canucks coach Alain Vigneault said. “Our players play real well in front of Curtis, and Curtis is an experienced NHL goaltender. He’ll do a good job for us.”
Vancouver also recalled goalie Cory Schneider from Manitoba of the American Hockey League. Schneider, the Canucks’ first-round pick in 2004, leads the AHL with a 10-1 record and 1.37 goals-against average. He was second with a .945 save percentage.
The 29-year-old Luongo started 14 straight games before Sanford made his first appearance in more than a month Thursday at Minnesota. Sanford then replaced Luongo in Pittsburgh on Saturday, stopping 45 of 48 shots overall to win both games—his first victories since Dec. 12, 2007.
Sanford was 4-3-1 with an .898 save percentage last season, his first in Vancouver after seven seasons in the St. Louis organization, including a career-high 34 games and 13 wins with the Blues in 2005-06.

Keep Luongo out for a month if thats what he needs.
it's scary that Luongo might want to get back into action as soon as possible and just re-agrevate the injury, he's gonna need to be 100% coming down the stretch

Claude Lemieux has signed a tryout contract with the San Jose Sharks in hopes of returning to the NHL after a five-year absence.
