I don't know why the Canucks lost their intensity. It's as if the almost don't give a fuck anymore. Which makes me wish all our players was Ovechkin-like. Not necessarily the goal scoring part, but the "I hockey part". The part that says "I want to be here and I would rather do nothing else." The guy even celebrates his teammates goal the way he celebrates his own. Even when his team was shit a few season ago, he still was the same guy. | Benching Edler, Bieksa and the Sedins? You make me laugh. That's suicidal to bench your top line. Who the fuck else can score? Benching one of our Top 4? So we can have Davidson or Nycholat take their places? Absolutely nuts. Wellwood is the perfect choice for the scratch. The last 14 games I don't even notice him on the ice besides for the giveaways.
Key for tonights game is TURNOVERS. If we can get the puck out of our own zone in a hurry then we got good chance of winning. Our forwards need to help out our D-men more when they are getting forechecked to hell. This team really misses Salo's awesome first pass ability to get it out of our own zone. Wellwood deserves the scratch..he's got something like 1 goal in the past 14 games? Should be a wake up call for him..He was getting into some real bad habits.

You mean top 6? Our first 2 forward lines? Well the same criticism can be made of Pyatt and Raymond as well, and not too long ago Bernier.
Even further, your criticism of giveaways and turnovers can also be said to the team as a whole? Bieksa, Edler, Sedins, which was my point to begin with, until common sense escaped you.
But I guess its better to single out Wellwood. I mean, its more entertaining to sensationalize the failure of a team by singling out one person instead of the team taking responsibility as whole right? Maybe you should go to CDC. You'd fit right in quite well there.

They should send Wellwood down for a day instead of making him a healthy scratch. That would really scare him. Then bring him back a game later. lol
I tell you, that guy can score whenever he feels like it. If only he tried harder.

Sending down Wellwood he needs to clear waivers? no? so that would be stupid of Canucks to do that route again. I am pretty sure, one team out of 29 would pick him up this time around.

I guess Wellwood is AV's new bitch. You can only slap a bitch around for so long before she decides enough is enough. So, Luongo is back. That's nice. I hope it doesn't turn out to be another big disappointment.

The reality is Wellwood is a player who plays limited ice time and on this team. He is one of the more expendable players who you can scratch. In this NHL you don't ever see one of your Top 4 D-men scratched or any of your Top forwards. The coach has a limited choice of who he is able to scratch.

Then I guess it is just only in my opinion that there are far more expendable players other than Wellwood right now. Wellwood is the only Canuck that can finish a play or has the scoring touch the Canucks so desperately needs. He didn't just garner the highest ranking NHLer for the most goal-per-shot percentage just out of luck.
IMO, considering our scoring woes of last year is the sole reason why MG acquired a player the likes of Wellwood, same with Demitra (over Naslund). Currently our scoring is suffering again and I don't understand the point of not utilizing our players like Wellwood and Demitra for players like Pyatt when that was the sole purpose of bringing them in here to begin with.
Yay Pyatt. What's the point of going back to our 07-08 team again? Depending on your pluggers to grind out a win with 1 goal games. We all know how well that went. Are you willing to watch the same thing all over again? I'm not. I want to see how the new team pans out.
edit:
Majority of this frustration is directed towards AV. Sorry if you got caught on the crossfire.

The only thing missing from this equation is that nobody here knows what's going on in the locker room. If Wellwood has, for example, been lazy, or disruptive, or is otherwise causing problems behind-the-scenes, AV knows this and we don't.
It's pretty easy to sit here and say "WTF is AV thinking" but all we have to go on is what we see on the ice... well, and media rumors, which aren't usually worth the paper they're printed on.

the general hard-on for wellwood in this thread is ridiculous
You guys need to take off the blinders if you think he's been playing well the past 3-4 weeks.
Remember what happened after the last time he got called on his lazy play? (sent down to the moose?)
Do you remember what happened after that? Do you think maybe, just maybe, AV is trying to get the same result this time by letting wellwood know that he should not take his spot on the roster for granted?
None of these Wellwood-fanbois seem to realize that Wellwood's contribution is very limited. He scores, and thats it. Pretty much the definition of a one-dimensional player. If he's not scoring, he's of no use to the team. There isn't room for more than one or two guys in your top six who can only score, and right now Demitra is that guy. At least he has speed and can draw penalties.
durrrrr
