In the old days, people would accuse the other team of running up the score. I would love to see the Canucks play to an 8 - 0 lead.
Anyway, Toronto up next. That's a huge game. Save the goals and energy for that game. I think that game is going to be insane. So, in Detroit, they throw out the Octopussy, and in Vancouver, it's the salmon. What do the Leafs fans throw onto the ice? Next time Calgary comes to town, all the fans should have uber long hockey sticks swaying in the stands. | care to explain why they throw out octopus and salmon ? i seen those on tv b4... but doesnt really know why ... im hockey noob

The officiating was absolutely TERRIBLE tonight.
Seriously. Watching the game and seeing all the crap the sens got away with was RIDICULOUS.

The 2nd goal, Sundin's boarding call, no call when Edler was clearly tripped, list goes on of the bad reffing.

The salmon? I have no clue. Wild Pacific salmon is what BC is know for, so that might be it? Salmon is known to go through a lot to reach spawning grounds - must be more than that.
In Florida, the fans throw rats onto the ice. Not real rats, but rubber rats. It had something to do with one of the players killing a rat in the dressing room one game. From that day on, they started to win. It was awesome. Thousands of rats coming down from the rafters. It got so bad, they banned it. There must be a video of it on you tube. It's hilarious.
The one I really love is the game where the then Vancouver Canucks' coach, Roger Neilson was so upset at the poor officiating that he put a white towel onto a hockey stick and started waving it at the referees gesturing they give up. The coach got kicked out of the game. The incident spurred the team on to victory. This led to the fans getting into the act. During that playoff season, the fans whirled white towels at the games. The towel waving you see at most sporting events in recent history had its beginning in Vancouver.
I'm sure there are a lot more weird things they do at arenas. Whatever it takes to get the team to win games.

^^ you know when mitchel came out with his big stick, i immediately thought fans would use that as their rally point -- but i think it'd be hard for 18,000 fans to each bring in a 7 foot stick ... :P

I wouldn't go as far as calling Hordichuk useless. On another note, I like the way SOB played tonight. He made some smart plays and didn't give up too much the other way.

How bout the first Canucks penalty, with Pyatt called for hooking when there was quite literally not even any contact to the player? If that's not a bullshit call/bad reffing, I don't know what is.
The non-calls against the Sens and the bullshit calls against the Canucks really had me wondering, tonight.

quotes from people off CDC... lol, take it for what its worth Quote:
QUOTE
- habs brass in meetings since 8pm tonight
- team meeting scheduled at midnight or whenever they arrive
- bettman en route for montreal
- police waiting for the players at the airport to arrest 3 (allegations rape & drugs)
- probable end of the career of the 3
*update*
Gorges, Higgins, Price are the three players that may be arrested tonight
Listening to SportsRage with Gaberial Morency and according to this La Press is running a story about this in about 5 and half hours. According to Gaberial, Price will be implicated as having underage sex with teenagers, Markov being involved in a prositition ring and Kostitysn being involved in criminal activity. This is all up in the air right now and unverifed and could rock the rest of the league.

It's interesting how talent is hidden in some people and all it takes is a spark and some hard work. A late bloomer? It doesn't make sense that he's grown so much as a player at such a late age.
It reminds me of a musician friend I once knew. She was basically tone deaf when I first met her in University. In just a few years, she blossomed into an amazing musician. Nobody knew she was capable of so much. She worked damn hard at it and in the end it all came together.
Anyway, people may say Burrows has little talent and hard work is what's making him successful this year. I think he has some talent and for whatever reason, it wasn't brought out until now. In any case, he's an example to all hockey players that you can make it and be successful if you're willing to do the hard work.
I'm sure there have been other players in the NHL who have experienced this kind of success. Good thing we have one of those players on our side.

no its true. I just read about it on hockey related forums its just that we won't get proper details until tomorrow. On a side note, Kovalev is prolly having a nice chuckle at the expense of the Habs.
