If Sundin doesn't come back, now you need a third top 6 forward unless you think Hodgson or Grabner is good enough to come in and fill those roles.

IMO it's a total mute point and a bad argument for not wanting two near point a game scorers. | In fact, it was the year AFTER Carter left, that Hank set the club record for assists in a season.
2005/06 with Anson Carter:
Daniel: 22g/49a/71p
Henrik: 18g/57a/75p
2006/07
Daniel: 36g/48a/84p (in 81 games)
Henrik: 10g/71a/81p
2007/08
Daniel: 29g/45a/74p
Henrik: 15g/61a/76p Quote:
The playoff argument on the other hand is totally valid.
| It'll be interesting to see if that changes this year... both twins have been far "scrappier" so far in the regular season than in the past - remember Hank mixing it up in a pre-season game? They've both elevated their mental toughness and don't seem to shrink away so much anymore, which is what really seemed to be their biggest problem in the playoffs so far.
And keep in mind that we now have a legitimate second line, so it won't be so easy for the other team to send out all their top players against the Sedin line. Quote:

Not AS GOOD as they did together, but they were still sharp. I think as much as is made of the whole "twin ESP" thing, it's as much the familiarity of playing with the same linemate all the time - that's never something you want to break up, if possible, but they're still both elite players on their own.

IMO it's a total mute point and a bad argument for not wanting two near point a game scorers. | You're right that they are still a point a game guys in the last few years after Carter left, but if you watch their play this year after teaming up with Burrows, their game is more than dump and cycle. This is a team game, where there are 5 skaters. The need to be able to use all 5 guys. If you look back at their points and take out the power play points, how many of their points in each of the last few years have been on regular strength plays? Of those points, how many were against top teams like Det, SJ, Anaheim, Dallas, Calgary, or Minny?
I guess my point is, if the twins got to play with Burrows all season, could they have increased their point totals to more than a point a game?
Also, look at Carter. Playing with the twins improved his game. Playing in LA, Edm, and CBJ, did he have as many points there per season as the one season he played with the twins?
If twins doesn't sign with Vancouver or Toronto, which other team that *could* win the cup would have the cap space to sign them as a set?

Luu's interview last night
after last nights performance the team doesnt look ready for the playoffs Quote:
Sometimes Luongo's honesty with the media gets him into PR jams. That could be the case again this week after he went off the "We are all Cancuks" script when asked whether being captain will influence his decision to sign an extension.
"I don't think so. That's not something that's going to weigh on my decision," Luongo said.
| Quote:
"I think first and foremost, I want to win the Cup and whichever team is going to give me the best chance to do that is the team I want to be with," Luongo said. "I love Vancouver, it's a great city with great fans. So far, I've really enjoyed my time there. Obviously, this year and next year are going to be a key role in my decision."

Hearing those comments from Luongo makes me think he won't resign here unless the Canucks make some big time moves..With that being said -it's hard to do that in today's salary cap era. I don't hate on Luongo for having the thinking that he wants to go to a team that will give him the best chance to win the cup - but like someone else mentioned earlier - he needs to give his head a shake. He will need to take a big hit on the salary to go on a "winning team" such as a Detriot. Why doesn't he sign for way less to play for a better team. TIme will tell what he does. ....DAMN IT

LOL Luongo would still be playing with the Florida Panthers, getting his paycheque and no playoffs if he didn't get his ass traded here. I guess when you're playing in Florida, you're not really interested in a cup, but once you come over here you just want one really bad?

The Sedins have found Alex Burrows? or the other way around
Alex Burrows understands how the sedins are
if MONSTER goes forechecks hard, wins that battle int he corner, feeds off the sedins to cycle it creates the chance for any one to score
it so happens that Burrows is the one scoring
the sedins are better players if they have someone forecheck for them and then feed them the puck to make the play
Burrows isnt hte biggest guy, but hes a tough customer and plays like hes a big man
thats why he's having success. Works hard, and sees the game well with the twins
Pyatt would be decent too, if he were able to make that first move like burrows would
Anson Carter wasnt as fast as MONSTER, but he used his size to get htem the puck and then get open!
and heres a video The Hate and Love for Sidney Crosby http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/...urn=nhl,149593 |

That's the money right there - Burrows is one of those special players who never gives up on a play. Look at his last shorthanded goal - busted in alone, hit the post... most guys on the PK right there would have retreated to their own zone, but he stayed with the puck, chased it down, and when Kes picked it up, he made sure to get in the right position to take the pass. And when his first shot was blocked, he stayed with the rebound to try it again.
That's typical of a lot of his goals - he throws ALL of himself into the play and stays with it to the end.

He doesn't care much about anything or anyone else.
If he goes, no big deal. I never thought highly of him as a person. Doesn't sound like he's much of a team player. Oh well.

Also, the twins haven't shown anyone that they can play their game in the post season, where it really counts.
If a team was to take the chance on them and paid them 6M a year, that means 12M is tied up on 2 players. If the cap is reduced to 48M in 2011, then the twins will tie up 25% of the team's cap. Gilles is a smart man, and there is a reason why he is only offering them 5M and a 3 year deal. Deals like Ovechkan's or Lecaviler's is gonna hurt the team in the long run as long as the economy stays bad and the cap is reduced. |
do you follow the canucks much? you seem to have a valid response but I find it funny you dont even know alex burrows is not andrew |

Besides, even if he were to win a Stanely Cup, I personally wouldn't grant him that much respect if he were to achieve it by tagging along some other team's success.
I'll always have that resentment as ever since after the 06/07 season, this guy gives the feeling of "What can the team do for him" as opposed to "what he can do for the team."

Take it easy.
Those were just my personal opinions regarding Luongo's current priorities. He obviously is more invested in his own personal goal than that of the team's. He left FLA because he wanted a Play-Off team. Now he may consider leaving if an opportunity for a Stanley Cup team arrives. Again, it's just a personal opinion regarding that sentiment.
