as for teh sharks/ducks
the sharks were outsed but really now
sloppy game, effortless games aside from Dan Boyle...
not like the ducks were playing any much better. This series woulda been amazing, but it wasnt, the series was hard to watch from both ends
Big Joe once again, didnt do anything, gains the zone with the puck, glides to the net. As a D man, play the puck carrier, you have one stride on them already becuz they are not moving their feet. Many times in the series, Big Joe had his chances to just move his feet and drive to the net using his size, but it wasnt the case. Even someone like Bertuzzi, or even Alex Burrows will keep skating to beat the Dman with that extra step to get in front.
The ducks, same situation, didnt really have that drive to make the play. Lots of holes on both ends, and both teams would just sorta coast through.
as for the Hawks/Flames, well the Flames can say, we were beat up and Phaneuf wasnt healthy or anything. His play this year has been sloppy from the start, looks for a hit rather than trying to make a play or force a turnover. Aside from that, the Hawks was just the better team this time around. All their kids stepped it up at the end of the series and did their part. Yes, 7 years outta post season, the expectations are not as high as the Flames, but this team played their guts out. You can see that the Hawks were the hungrier team.
The hawks are younger, and might not feel as tired as the much more experienced Vancouver team. That could be a factor coming into round2. We saw the round up the score in the last two games in the regular season vs the hawks, but they are much tougher than our team. Its not going to be an easy win for the Canucks either.

They held a two-goal lead going into the third last night... gave up a goal... then had a 5-minute major PP and only managed one goal 12s into that. It was like, they got that goal and then went back to sleep, the rest of the PP was pathetic. Didn't take the Rockets long to get two goals within less than two minutes to tie it up.

The National Hockey League announced the three finalists for the Frank Selke Trophy on Tuesday with Pavel Datsyuk, Ryan Kesler and Mike Richards getting the honours.
The Selke is awarded "to the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game."
Detroit Red Wings' Datsyuk is a finalist for the second consecutive season and is also a finalist for the Lady Byng Trophy. Last season he became the second player in NHL history to capture both awards (Pittsburgh's Ron Francis - 1995). Datsyuk ranked second among NHL players in takeaways with 89, placed third in plus-minus (plus-34) and won 56% of his face-offs (636 of 1,135).
Kesler helped the Canucks to the fourth-best defensive record in the Western Conference and seventh in the NHL, Vancouver only allowed 220 goals-against last season. He led the Canucks in takeaways (74) and ranked first among Vancouver forwards in shorthanded ice time per game (3:19). He also scored two shorthanded goals, had a plus-8 rating and won a career-high 54% of his face-offs (527 of 976).
Richards with a plus-22 for the Flyers, second on the team. He led the NHL and tied a franchise record with seven shorthanded goals and had nine shorthanded points in total. He became the first NHL player to score three career goals being down by two men. Richards also scored shorthanded goals in three consecutive games (Feb. 15-21). It was the first time the feat had been accomplished since Joe Sakic did it back in 1998 (Oct. 15-24).

Ya they are saying it looks like 6pm start times for Gm's 1-2 and likely Thurs and Sat.
Anyone see the Myers hit on Shera?? I can't find it - someone find a video of it? Apparently it was BAD...listening to Brook Ward last night he was saying how it could have killed the guy...Shera only (well not Only) had 10 stitches the the head a concussion and a broken hand..

^I saw it (that's Schirra, btw)... the hit didn't look so bad at first, just a hard hit into the boards, although he did catch him from behind... but it looked like it drove Schirra's face shield right into the glass, and then his face into the shied and inner edge of his helmet. When they showed him on the ice, there was a ton of blood around his forehead and bridge of his nose - probably gashed his head on the inside of his helmet or something.

Calgary's farm team moving to Abbotsford...they are doing a name the team contest:
We should flood the voting system with the vote for Canucks..
That would be EPIC! Calgary's Farm team named the Abbottsford Canucks! |

Team said the start times for Game 1 and 2 will be finalized for sure by the end of today. Game 3 and 4 hasn't been decided yet due to the playoff's for the Chicago Bulls.
Also, Hodgeson was named OHL's most outstanding player today.

I don't think Kesler will win either but to get nominated is great, at least it's some acknowledgment. Remember the outcry when Nonis matched Philly's offer sheet for 1.9 million.

Earlier sucks for people who work until 5-6. I prefer 7 because you can go out and watch the game, early games you're basically fucked because half the people I know are working.

Yup, exactly. I get off around 6, workout for 30 mins, take a shower and settle in to watch the game at 7. It's the prefect time.

So it is confirmed that there will be 6pm puck drops. Game 5 will be on May 9th. Pretty quick turn around for this series back and forth between here and Chicago...gonna be grinding down type series.
