the past decade have seen one bust
and that is patrik stefan
other than that, the 1st round seems pretty damn good
but now that TSN and NHL have partnered up, there is more attention on the draft than say 10yrs ago
being 1st round doesnt mean superstar, but someone like chris phillips who was 1st overall still has a job

Ticket broker sounds alarm after Canucks refuse to renew season tickets Quote:
VANCOUVER (CBC) - The Vancouver Canucks are cutting some of their season ticket holders from the roster, according to one local ticket broker.
Kingsley Bailey, who re-sells event tickets through his business, Vancouver Ticket Services, said he's been told he won't be allowed to renew 20 out of the 24 Canucks season tickets he holds.
Bailey said he doesn't expect people to have sympathy for a scalper, but the public needs to realize the team could opt not to renew many other tickets at its whim.
"And as soon as the season ticket holders sit there and realize that there is no loyalty with this team to their fans, then they can start to understand 'Hey, you know what? We're in control of this, this is our dollars, and we want some rules set in place,'" Bailey said.
"This is definitely in the court of public opinion to make that decision and I want the public at least to understand exactly how they're treating season ticket holders."
Bailey said he's supported the Canucks since 1995.
"[It's] very short-sighted, and they don't look at the big picture which is, you know, value your season ticket holders," he said.
But it's not just ticket brokers being affected. One man told CBC News he had to give back six seats that he had been saving for his children and grandchildren.
He didn't want to go on the record for fear the Canucks would take away the four season tickets he has left.
Bailey said it's important people realize this could happen to anyone.
He believes the team's decision is motivated by the desire to get in on the lucrative secondary ticket sale market.
In an email to CBC News, the Canucks said the policy is designed to spread the option of buying tickets around to more fans.
With a wait list of 4,000 people, the expected timeline to get season tickets is more than six years.

It looks like they're targeting people with a large number of tickets (>10 tickets). With a waitlist of 4000 people, I guess they don't really have to worry about alienating a few fans. At least it makes it fair for those who actually are fans and want tickets. I'm sure those with a large number of tickets that aren't resellers can plead their case.

its a fucking joke that one person was allowed to have 24 season tickets. Can't get much more obvious than that.
And this other douche is "saving" 6 seats for his grandkids? BS

What sucks is that normal fans can't get to a game without paying twice face value to one of these leeches.

I have no sympathy for scalpers, believe me. But if I had the money and could afford to buy and hold seats for my grandkids and the organization took them away, I'd be fuckin pissed.

Someone brought up Brule. I'd love to see the Canucks pick him up and try to develop him. Look what they've done with Burrows and Kesler. Brule has a lot of skill and potential. Anyone who watched him play for the Giants would have to agree.
I was at the prospects game when it was supposed to be the Brule vs Crosby show and Sidney didn't show. Brule got the hat trick and owned the crowd. I thought he'd be a star in the NHL, maybe his problem was he thought so too.
The Giants homer in me would still like to see him make it. Would be sweet if it happened it a Canucks uni.

I mean, being a millionaire already makes you well known from being a member of a smaller social circle; in addition to that you'd probably have your own box seats and stuff. And if there ever was any misunderstanding, a millionaire probably has the social and financial resources to correct that.
As for your average joes, or just above average, I don't see why they'd legitimately require 24 season tickets. If they do require it for familial or charitable functions, then I'm pretty sure they'd have an arrangement with the org.
I wouldn't really worry about people who are legit. As for this guy Kinglsey Bailey, I don't know who the hell he's trying to fool.

Fair enough he wasn't playing alongside anyone with real talent in Columbus, but didn't they try him with either Gagner or Cogliano in Edmonton? If he can't get anything going with those guys...
And don't get me started on Giants I'd like to see playing for the Canucks. I'm still pissed at them not drafting Lucic, and look at how he's playing in Boston. Could you imagine how jacked he'd be playing for his hometown team? I just don't understand how they can pass on him 3 (i think it was) times?

Personally, I think Brule could have used an extra year playing for the Giants. One of the biggest problems is that players are brought up to the NHL before they are ready. And when I say ready, it could be mentally, physically, or when there is an opening in the team.
For example, Bobby Ryan was picked second overall in the same draft right behine Crsoby. Look at him now. He wasn't given the chance to play on the team in the first few years due to cap space, but now a few years later and a few years more mature, he is showing why he was the second pick over all.
Let's go back to Brule. He has been very unfortunate. He suffed 2 seperate leg injuries in his first year. His second year was spent playing on a very weak CBJ team. And this year he missed half of the season due to a knee injury. In 39 games played, he scored 13 goals and 11 assist, playing for a team that was 24-44-8-4.
I think if he can go through some time without any serious injury and he could work on his strength training, I think he could be back in the NHL.

Brule said he didn't want to play here. He'd rather play in other cities cause he felt he already knows how it is playing in vancouver...or something like that
As for him playing in the NHL, well, I think TSN was saying how CBJ basically screwed Brule by not allowing him to develop and basically threw him to the wolves something like he was basically too small and not mature enough.

I have no problem with the Canucks taking away tickets from scalpers. I honestly wouldn't mind some really leans years to fuck over a ton of the resellers, nobody wants to buy tickets when the Nucks are losing. If that were to happen at least then I can go to more then a few games a season. As bad as the team was during the Messier era and just after it sure was stupid easy to get tickets to the game, you literly had trouble giving them away.

Canuck games have the worst atmosphere ever, I miss the Vancouver Voodoo when they were here. Cheap tickets, decent product, good times. Kind of like the Grizzlies but they at least won a few games.

Can you believe that it was just TWO years ago in 2007, that the Chicago Blackhawks literally gave their tickets away?
I remember checking it out for myself. You could go on Ticketmaster, order tickets to the game, and the cost of the tickets would be $0.00.
Two years later, they're playing to packed houses of 22,000 fans.

I still recall being in Chicago a few years ago, when there was a Canucks @ Hawks game, and the game broadcast was NOWHERE to be found on local TV or radio. Even the next morning, trying to find the score from radio news was literally impossible. The all-news station didn't even touch on sports; the all-sports station spent the entire morning talking about nothing but NCAA hoops (March Madness was approaching, as I recall). Neither of the local papers we got, had even a mention of the NHL. It was a sad, sad state of affairs for an Original Six city.

Check out the 1:06 mark. Cody Hodgson is number 18.
On a side note, I was looking up the final scoring for the season and Krog finished third behind two Hersey Bears players.
Unfortunately, Grabner was way down with 40 or so points and Jaffery had 56 IIRC.
