my post was a double negative based on the debunking of the rumor that we offered shanahan a contract and he rejected it, neither of which ever happened.

I wouldn't mind having Byron Ritchie back. I thought he was decent. I'd pay him $500k. He has, however, been made redundant as we have too many forwards now and guys that are probably better than him at being 4th liners. Isbister is useless. I like Miller too but he's far too old to be playing here.
And I might be in the minority but I really liked Mike Weaver. I thought he played hard every game but he's too small for this team now if we want to get tougher.

No one talking about the Canucks schedule? Season opener should be awesome. Bert and Iginla...  Also looking forward to finally seeing Montreal back in Vancouver since... what, '05? SCHEDULE NOTABLES:
The Canucks longest home stand is six games between November 2nd-15th, while the longest road trip is seven games from November 29th-December 13th. With road trips of seven games, two of six games and two of four games in length, the Canucks will play a combined 27 road games in just five road trips.
SCHEDULE BREAKDOWN:
The 2008-09 schedule includes 14 home stands and 14 road trips. The Canucks play a total of 28 weekend games including 17 games at home. Tuesday evenings will be the busiest night of the week for the Canucks this season with 17 games falling on that day. The total number of Saturday games is 16 followed by Thursday (15), Sunday (12), Friday (10), and Monday and Wednesday (6).
PRE-SEASON:
The Canucks will play four pre-season home games and a total of seven pre-season games, all against Western Conference opponents: Anaheim (2), Calgary (1), Edmonton (2) and San Jose (2). The Canucks open the pre-season at Edmonton, facing the Oilers, on September 22nd.
