I don't think this will be the end for Sakic. He won't go out on a note like this. I wish him a speedy recovery. One of the best players to ever play the game IMO.

It could be worse, snow blowers are the leading cause of finger loss. God damm Joe you've made enough money pay someone $20 to shovel your driveway.

i was so pissed last night with the 7 minute pp and only 5 shots ? they need to start shooting the fuckin puck more. All the sedins want to do is make pretty passes and cycle the puck around, that isnt going to score goals every night.

It looks like the Mats Sundin derby has become a two-horse race and the Vancouver Canucks are one of the teams in the running as the competition for the free-agent centre's services hits the home stretch.
The other club with an inside track on Sundin is the New York Rangers, who are probably a more attractive destination for the 37-year-old Swede, but nonetheless must solve serious salary-cap issues before signing him.
Sundin's agent, Calgary-based J.P. Barry of CAA Sports, has said there are four or five teams serious about signing his client and acknowledged on Tuesday that two are Montreal and Chicago.
However, it appears that the Canadiens would have to rip apart a very competitive lineup to make room for Sundin, while it is believed the Blackhawks -- facing similar salary-cap clearing headaches -- are all but out of it.
Barry has set a target of Monday for Sundin to get to a short list of teams, with the goal of signing before the Christmas break.
In a new development on Tuesday, Barry said on TEAM 1040 radio that Sundin was looking to sign just a one-year deal and then assess his situation at the end of the season. That likely works against the Canucks, who have a standing offer of a two-year contract for a total of $20 million.
Barry hinted there could be a fifth team in the running, but -- for all the same reasons -- it's hard to imagine which it is. Any clubs who, in theory, might have an obvious need for a player of Sundin's profile also have no cap room and are flush down the middle.
Sundin will be in New York this weekend as part of a promotion for Poker Stars, and you can bet he will take some time to talk with the Rangers brass.

I'm tired of seeing our PP pass pass cycle for like a minute before even throwing a shot on net. It's a damn powerplay just throw that shiet on net and jam away. Plus after all our passing and cycling we usually don't get awesome chances anyways.

I guess the canucks players fail to realize that putting the puck towards the net in any way could result in a goal, they don't need a wide open net to be able to score and plus they've gotten plenty of wide open nets and haven't buried them so it makes no difference. Watch the sports highlights any day of the week and you'll see some pretty interesting goals which consist of just putting the puck towards the net. A goal is a goal whether or not its garbage. The point is shoot more!

Pretty funny though how our team sucks ass at potting pucks on net yet we are one of the highest scoring teams in the league. Go figure.
Regardless we need to get back to common sense and that is if you don't shoot you can't score. They need to take a page out of lets say Detroit, they fire the on net all the time just shoot shoot shoot! Heck take a page out of Burrow's book, from what I see anytime he has a chance whether its in close or from the blue line he just fires it on net.

there was this article in the province today where the head coach of Nashville was complaining about the hits yesterday, and he says some players broke the 'Hockey Code' and are hoping the league would review the hits to call for some suspensions

hes an idiot
taking away the hits is like taking all the naked pics out of playboy
physical play is a major part of hockey
and its really stupid how people complain there isn't enough hits in hockey these days, and when we get a game like yesterday where it was awesome and physical play played a major part of the game, people start bitching

I think the Nashville coach was refering about the hit Davison made, which they claim was a headshot. And Burrows who had his feet off the ice to deliver that hit. (which no penalty was called).
Anyways, Canucks really do need to shoot more. Sometimes they got a good line of fire given if they release it quick. But most players on the Canucks team don't have the skill to release it quick accurately. Or even do one timers. I NEVER see the Canucks pull off one timers. If Bernier could do one-timers, I think he would have 30 goals by now.
If you watch Detroit, they move the puck so fast. Tape to tape passing and lots of one-timers and quick shots.
Canucks don't do tape to tape passing. They do drop passes where there's no one there to fetch it except for the other team, they chip the puck around the boards over and over again, but can't generate any thing from it. They pass it out to the point, but no one timer blasters from the point. The point man passes to the other point man, who then dumps the puck back in deep for the forwards to play the cycle game again.

Breaking down the teams interested in Sundin Quote:
Mats Sundin will be in New York on Friday for a promotional obligation he has with PokerStars.
Although nothing has been finalized, it's likely Sundin will meet with the New York Rangers to discuss interest the Rangers have in the 37-year-old unrestricted free agent.
The Rangers, Chicago Blackhawks, Montreal Canadiens and Vancouver Canucks are the four teams believed to be in the final mix - a dynamic that isn't expected to change unless another team enters the sweepstakes in the eleventh hour.
Provided things stay the same, and no "dark-horse" teams emerge, here is the believed order of ranking among the four teams vying for Sundin's services:
1) Vancouver Canucks
2) Chicago Blackhawks
3) Montreal Canadiens
4) New York Rangers
There are no salary cap issues in Vancouver, and a two-year, $20 million offer remains on the table. Sundin could simply sign a contract and resume his career with no strings attached, or very few.
However, Sundin isn't expected to agree to a contract beyond this season, which will allow him to reassess his motivation to return next season at the end of the year.
The Blackhawks have cap problems and, like the Canadiens and Rangers, Chicago would have to move players to make room. However, with ongoing speculation the Hawks may be willing to trade or move big name players like Nikolai Khabibulin or Martin Havlat, Chicago ranks high.
The Montreal Canadiens remain in contention. General manager Bob Gainey's ongoing interest proves a willingness to make the necessary moves to clear space, but the idea of Sundin - a longtime Maple Leaf and former Leafs captain - playing for the rival Canadiens is something that some say is an issue for the veteran player. However, Sundin has been impressed with Gainey's approach and, more importantly, how Gainey has managed Montreal into a contender.
The New York Rangers could move from fourth to first, but to do that New York will have to get a lot more aggressive....and soon.
The market shows, even on a pro-rated basis, that Sundin will command between seven and 10 million dollars.
If the Rangers can't find a way to match the offers expected from the other three teams, or aren't comfortable disrupting their roster to make room for what could be a rental player, then Sundin will likely lean towards either Vancouver or Chicago.

AAAAAAAAAAHHH. All this Sundin news is annoying.
It's the same damn news ever since summer.
"will be making a decision soon"
"have narrowed choices down to XY teams"
"will have a decision by..."
You can probably take a page out of news in the summer, redate it to todays date, and pass it as current events.

The hell, why would we want Naslund back. LOL
He's doing so well over there. And we are doing just fine without him.
What are the salary offers from the other teams?

Watching the Flames Vs Wings game and the TSN panel thinks Sundin will best fit Vancouver but that asshole Clarke thinks he's better off in Montreal or in Philly.

so if Sundin does come what are the lines? there are so many potential matchups
Sundin - Wellwood - Bernier/Demitra/Pyatt
Sedin - Sedin - Bernier/Demitra/Pyatt
will be interesting to see
