but honestly, Luongo is horrible at moving the puck
just admit
tho players like Hasek was also shit, hes got a ring to boot(when he won it..)
Luongo needs to be Luongo and not give a shit
i must say tho, Tommy Larchied is correct on his words and i fully defend that
its the truth, Luuuuu is not Broduer

I'm sure AV was planning on using him and sitting out shane o'brien for a game or two but o'brien has a +8 and has been playing pretty damn good the last month.

Burrows hopes teammates 'take a little less'
By Jim Jamieson 03-16-2009
Alex Burrows — currently morphing from a checker into a sniper, with seven goals in his last seven games — freely admits he left some money on the table when he agreed to his recent contract extension that will pay him $2 million annually for four more years beginning next season.
Burrows said after practice on Monday that he feels he’s done his part to help the Canucks compete for players in an economic reality where the salary cap is expected to shrink significantly after next season.
And when asked Burrows said he hoped other players on the team would do the same to give the team a better chance to win a Stanley Cup.
“That’s what I’m hoping,” said Burrows. “We’ve got a really good group of guys in here that understand the salary cap world. Obviously, we play this game to win the Stanley Cup and to do that you can’t be too greedy when it comes down to paycheques and contract talks. If you look at teams like Detroit, they have guys who could make a lot more money than they’re making right now, but they’re taking a little less to win a Stanley Cup. So hopefully guys will do the same in this locker room when they become UFAs (Unrestricted Free Agents) this summer or in the future. That’s how we’re going to build a winning team.”
But Burrows hedged when asked if that should include his current linemates — Daniel and Henrik Sedin — who are slated to become UFAs on July 1 and whose speculated numbers are in the $5.5 million to $6.6 million range per annum.
“I think those guys are unbelievable players,” said Burrows. “There’s maybe five per cent of those kind of players in the league. Those kind of players deserve their money. They’ve been around for so long, carrying the offence for this team. They went through a tough time with a lot of pressure early in their career with a lot of media hype and pressure, but they battled through it. They’re top-notch players and whatever their number is, they deserve it.”

I wonder what other teams/cities are good at ripping their superstars out of town.. I swear, i think our city is the worst when it comes to bashing the goalies.. whether it comes from the media or the fans and that article about luongo is another example... just can't satisfy them fully....
oh well..we'll see what happens by next year when lu's contract is up for grabs.

Remember all the crap Patrick Roy got from EVERYONE, including the Denver fans and media, for some of his spectacular brain-farts??
Try reading the Toronto papers for the last few years and see how badly the Laffs get slammed.
It's not just Vancouver, it's any hockey market.

I for one am glad that the Sedin talks have come to a standstill. It'll give Gillis a chance to see if they can perform during the playoffs as they've traditionally choked during the playoffs.
If they choke again with "The Monster" Alex Burrows playing with them, then Gillis has some very good leverage to drive down the asking price from the Sedin camp. If they do well, then we've got a good first line locked up for the next 3-4 years that can prove their worth.

Why do we want to copy the Laffs tho...I think everyone forgot how valuable Luongo is. That showed when he got injured and now he lets a fluky goal then gets questioned for it? It's so stupid...We won the game, team is playing good, there's no need to bring those kind of stupid questions....just my 2 cents... oh and I was referring to bashing "Stars" on the team and the leafs have none of that.
Anyways, Stars tonight! gonna be a tight game

Luongo has bailed out this team more times than we can remember. So he lets in a few soft ones...sure they're unfortunate, but the end result is that we win and in the end that's all that matters.
Most of the players in the hockey markets (especially Canadian markets) know they're under intense scrutiny all the time. It's a part of the culture. People here are passionate about their team. The guys that criticize you when you let in the soft ones are also the ones that worship you like a god when you make the great saves.
I've noticed Luongo is starting to crack a little under this pressure in the last few games. It's great to see however his team mates sticking up for him, and in today's Vancouver Sun, Bieksa even puts the blame on himself and his defensive team mates to do more to help out Luongo. There's some definite good chemistry going on between the guys and I'm confident they're going to do good on the home stretch.

Heatly 8.00 Million
LeCalvier 6.875 Million
Gagne 5.250 Million
Alferdson 4.414 Million
E.Staal 4 Million
Average = 5.7 Million
You also take into consideration they have been averaging just below a point a game consistently I think it's obvious they deserve a raise. They will get at least 5.5 but here's to hoping it's not that much more then that as it would handcuff the team as far as improving the team down the road.

You also have to factor in what free agents are available next year. And let's just say there's at most 3-4 front line players available. If the Canucks are not going to give the Sedins what they want, you can be sure another team will.

larschied saying Luongo is "the worst in the league at handling the puck" is just fucking stupid though, obviously he is not so it's just stupid to make those kind of remarks
especially when that tucker goal was more bad luck then anything

You have to think that the Hawks will lose tonight, playing the Devils? Hawks have not been playing well - and Broduer is motivated to get the record out of the way is he not?
And Canucks are going after a record 10 straight wins at home.
Canucks win and Hawks loss tonight WOW - that would be awesome. TIED in the standing with one more game played!
I think it plays out tonight - Stars without key players..
You know its going to at least overtime tonight.
3-2 Canucks in overtime or Stars win it in SO

Sorry but I'm a hockey player and superstition matters
*** Do not call out supposed easy wins
*** Do not call Shut Out before, or during a game in progress
*** Do not lay the hammer down for the Canucks. (Who the fuck was that guy last year before every Canuck game? Moj?)
