cherry just said something like it's mean and disrespectful cuz he scored on a rookie goalie on a team that's already out of the playoffs and that celebration just makes him feels worst

read an article in the paper - Willie Mitchell didnt mind the celebration at all, said it brings some much needed personality to the NHL
and Vignault had no problem with it either, said something along the lines of "the guy did score 50 goals ...)

Anyone with half a brain should know that it was nothing against the Lightning, and the celebration has nothing to do with them. It is about his 50 goals, period. There should be no reason the goalie should feel bad about the celebration whatsoever.

w00t burr0ws is a mOnst3RRR | Boo Hoo, ironic Cherry is talking about who's mean and all. It's like saying the Capitals team shouldn't take hard shots on the goalie because he's a rookie. Ovechkin would of done the same celebration regardless which goalie/team he was playing against. I don't see Cherry's point here.

I don't mind Cherry and like is honest opinions but it’s no secret that Cherry is a bigot so he looks for any excuse to bash Europeans.
Honestly I have no problem with Ove and what he's doing. Ove is the new face of the NHL. He's starting to attract ‘positive’ and well needed attention for the NHL in the US and quite honestly it’s better than having Avery making headlines with his stupid behavior who by the way was also mentioned on Coaches Corner for giving someone a chop to the legs during his game earlier today.

I might just be a little paranoid... The question was would you re-sign with Vancouver and the answer was something like "I definitely enjoyed my time here in Vancouver, but which ever team that has a better chance to winning the cup will be considered and it really depends on how they do next season"

In all honestly, the league has already started to change due to the ecomonic situation in the US. Everyone wants to resign for a big long term contract, but look at what happened in Montreal and NYR this year. Due to all their big contracts, they could not afford to sign Mats Sundin. Look at Tampa Bay last year. So much money was tied down in three players, but three players are not enough to get them into the playoff let alone win the cup.
I know what Luongo is saying, but his head needs a good shake. The only way he can go to a cup winning team is to either take a pay cut and play in Detroit, or really stand on his head and knock off someone else's number 1 goalie.
Look at some of the other top teams in the league. They all have a really good number 1 goalie. Or else those teams will have to trade away their number 1 goalie. Maybe Montreal will trade away Price to pick up Luongo.

+1.
Perfect example is the Leafs. They made a profit of around $100 million dollars but even Burke has said he won't sign the Sedins (if the Canucks don’t resign them) for the money they're asking for. Teams are staying away from lucrative long term contracts.

Speaking of GOOD games... Giants beat the Prince George Cougars 9-1 tonight, in game 2 of their first-round WHL playoff series. Beat them 7-2 last night as well. Looks like it's gonna be a short, short series. (Well... or a REALLY LONG one for PG!)

Teams are staying away from lucrative long term contracts. | The twins is a funny case. Their biggest problems is that in all the years they have played in the NHL, they have only been able to play with 2 players. Anson Carter and Andrew Burrows. If any team was to spend the $$$ on these 2 players, they HAVE to have either Carter or Burrows or take the chance with another player in hopes that they can work well together.
Now, if some team decided to take one over the other twin, which one would they take? There are no guarantees that they can play appart. There is even less guarantees that they will remain playing at a point a game pace seperated.
Also, the twins haven't shown anyone that they can play their game in the post season, where it really counts.
If a team was to take the chance on them and paid them 6M a year, that means 12M is tied up on 2 players. If the cap is reduced to 48M in 2011, then the twins will tie up 25% of the team's cap. Gilles is a smart man, and there is a reason why he is only offering them 5M and a 3 year deal. Deals like Ovechkan's or Lecaviler's is gonna hurt the team in the long run as long as the economy stays bad and the cap is reduced.

Giants won game one 8-2, not 7-2. =P
But they did give up the 2 short handed goals.

I think people put way to much focus on them needing a winger to complete them they complete each other winger or not. IMO it's a total mute point and a bad argument for not wanting two near point a game scorers.
The playoff argument on the other hand is totally valid.

I think the Leafs have a good chance of signing the Sedins if Gillis doesn't pull the trigger. Burke has made it clear that's he's interested, the Leafs have the cash and cap space and I really don't see the Sedins turning down a offer to play in Toronto if they get close to what they're asking for.
