^it was roger millions and ya apparently it wasnt supposed to be aired they screwed up with the tape they sent to toronto or something
and another thing I was pissed off when i heared about no HD for our games in STL. Our TAXES keep cbc running its a crown corp. how is it that they promise the MTL games all in HD but us out in the west they dont care we pay the same goddamn tax as everybody else does and apparently it only costs like souple hundred thousand to rent the HD truck they dont know how to run a company at CBC if there not careful im sure any of these private broadcasting companies would be more than willing to take over TSN, sportsnet and im sure theyl have no problem putting there games in HD so CBC get your head on straight this is the playoffs in Vancouver one of the bigger hockey markets dont squander over a measly couple hundred thousand when you just sold your theme song for millions earlier this year

They never owned the song. That was the whole problem. They didn't want to continue paying royalties to use the song.
TSN ended up buying the theme song from the owner of the song.

CBC doesn't "rent" an HD truck - they OWN two of them, one for Western Canada, one for the East (they just a couple years ago BOUGHT the second one, specifically for the West, under Scott Moore's leadership). For them to broadcast the games FROM ST. LOUIS in HD, they'd have to either tap into a local HD feed, or drive their truck down there. Since there apparently isn't an in-house HD source available, that means getting the truck down there... which means lots of gas and lots of overtime for the driver(s) and crew.
Now why is it again that they should have no problem spending our tax dollars this way?

Taping into a local HD feed can be quite expensive depending on the distance because most of the time the signal is delivered via fiber to the headend which is in Toronto.

Quit your bitching about the HD issue. http://www.vancouversun.com/Sports/C...754/story.html Canucks road playoff games now to be televised in HD
By Yvonne Zacharias, Vancouver SunApril 16, 2009 4:38 PM
CBC has decided to broadcast all Stanley Cup quarter-final games between the St. Louis Blues and the Vancouver Canucks in high definition, after all.
The broadcaster had decided earlier that games in St. Louis would not be broadcast in high definition because of the cost. Hockey-crazed fans in Vancouver reacted angrily to the decision after the Canucks’ euphoric victory, 2-1, Wednesday night in the opening game against the Blues. But the CBC reversed that decision Thursday afternoon after Save-On-Foods came to the rescue, ponying up the necessary funds for the cash-strapped network to broadcast the games in the crystal-clear new way.
Jeff Keay, head of media relations for English CBC in Toronto, said the broadcaster was sympathetic to the fans. “If you are used to getting something in HD, which is a pretty fabulous way of watching a game, not having it is frustrating,” he said.
Prior to the reversal, fans were sounding off on websites, accusing the CBC of having an eastern bias and of ignoring its western audience.
But Keay denied that the outcry had prompted the reversal. “Without the resources to do it, we wouldn’t have been able to do it,” he said. “We are facing a $171-million revenue shortfall. We don’t have a lot of dough.”
But he said that Save-On-Foods came in as a white knight, saving the day. Without the food chain, it wouldn’t have happened.
The problem was that CBC Vancouver has only two HD mobile units and there wasn’t enough time to drive between Vancouver and St. Louis to make Games 3 and 4, which are away games for the Canucks. Save-On-Foods has paid for renting the units in the U.S.
“This is late-breaking news and we are happy to say it,” said Keay. “Better late than never.”
The CBC will also broadcast Game 6 in the Western Conference quarter-final series in high-definition in St. Louis, if necessary.
All of the Vancouver home games (Games 1 and 2 and, if necessary, Games 5 and 7) were already scheduled to be presented in high-definition by CBC.
“We would like to thank Save-On-Foods for their support,” Scott Moore, executive director of CBC Sports, said in a news release. “Through their sponsorship, we are now able to better service the passionate fans in Vancouver and across the country.”
CBC’s Hockey Night In Canada continues coverage of the first-round playoff series between the Canucks and St. Louis Blues today at 7 p.m. local time. Games 3 and 4 then move to Scottrade Centre in St. Louis Sunday at 4 p.m. Pacific time and Tuesday at 5 p.m. Pacific time. yzacharias@vancouversun.com
Yay for Save On Foods
I can see Save On Foods getting more customers after this hah
