Mental illness is just chaos in concentrated form

I have no tattoos, never liked or believed in anything enough to get it permanently on my skin. Besides, I want my art out in the world, not on me!

Being bipolar is awesome, you can go from completely depressed and suicidal to elated in a few moments

Some people snap and can't handle it, others become artists and rock that shit

Any recommendations for an artist in Vancouver that does a great job at script? I am thinking of getting a few words of latin script as a first small tattoo. Richmond is more convenient for me but apparently STC is always booked.

Thanks!

Wait in line then, they have one of the best script tattooers in Canada probably.

I don't understand how people can be so impatient with something that lasts literally the rest of their lives :fulloffuck:

Yeah, I know Greg, actually my friends bro. I got my only tattoo done by him and he did an amazing job! I had this old blurry pic of my dad from when i was a kid, he took the pic and made a miracle happen! What amazes me is how he took that blurry pic and made my tattoo look exactly like my pops, when I unveiled it to my family everyone was in tears, cuz it really looks just like my old man. He does really great work, lots of my friends have been to him (being that we know him on a personal level) and everyone has left quite pleased with his work. I know if I ever get another portrait done, he'll be the artist I choose. Hope that helps

i have a couple script from jesse. def one of the best script artist in Canada. His wait isn't that bad. 3month on avg. once you get in once with him he will keep you in mind for cancellation and such.

if you can't wait than you don't deserve a good tattoo

6-10 hours, 1600-4000 type thing?

they usually have a day rate anywhere from 1500-4000.

day rate could be anywhere from 6-10hr depending on the artist and your own tolerance.

i have had 1500 for 6hr to 1500 for 10+hr which is my personal limit, had to tap out but the artist could of went on for a few more hr.

Wait for Jesse Strong, plain and simple. SkinnyPupp is right, it's on you forever, what's a few months of waiting?

I'm hoping you are joking because a family friend of mine is bipolar and I can tell you first hand that it is the absolute opposite of awesome and is actually quite crippling :failed:

I had a bipolar friend and yeah it's not fun. We were SO close to being abandoned in the forest after a freakout on the way to go camping. :heckno:

But everything jason 2000 says is bullshit , and he's well on his way to being banned from the thread anyway, so...

phantom x 07-10-2014 11:05 PM

Hey guys, are there any other well known traditional Japanese style artists in Vancouver aside from ones mentioned in this thread and the FAQ thread? I've been thinking of getting a chest and half sleeve for a long time but even Horiryu's style is not as traditional as I would like. I'm thinking about getting a koi/kintaro and hannya mask. Horiryu's style is way too much ink for me and his windbars are too swiggly (?). I prefer these style of windbars and vibrant colours:

horiryu gonna be the closest to traditional,
hit up his store n let him know you want that style of windbars i bet he'll accommodate.

Im also looking for more traditional work, and although i have two pieces from horiryu i think imma travel next yr for my next piece. Some dope artists around the world, i don't want to limit my tats to just Vancouver.

also i think a koi & kintaro is meant for a bigger piece, like the back.
it wont look as strong as a half sleeve, just a thought

kevin7352 07-15-2014 08:38 AM

^ Thanks for your input I'll definitely keep that in mind.

I've seen a handful of koi & kintaro half sleeves that look quite nice though but i can see what you mean.
Just curious, what do others think of this in terms of placement and overall "feng shui" of tattoos? What would be good with a hannya mask? I was also considering a more landscape tattoo with mountains and a japanese pagoda but I could definitely see that as being meant for a bigger piece.

He works out of his studio, and for anyone curious, I talked to my friend over the weekend and she told me best way to get a hold of Greg is to message him on Facebook. I know he's crazy busy air brushing bikes since it's summer time, but things will cool down once riding season is over

Mozo 07-15-2014 02:42 PM

Has anyone gone to or heard of anything about Bryan Glatiotis at Dark Day Tattoo?
Friend has recommended me to him just want to get other/more opinions, I am planning on getting Japanese style half sleeve (non traditional).

Other places ive been considering based on reading this thread is:
Jeff Tam @ Monkey King (emailed, His wait list is +2 years)
Jesse @ Blackwater (emailed but no response yet)
Chad or Dax @ Sanitary Electric (emailed but no response yet)

Ill have to stop by Blackwater and Sanitary Electric's shops this weekend to see their wait list.

Anyone else have other people they could recommended?

Klobbersaurus 07-15-2014 03:32 PM
