Been thinking about this on the shoulder

Or this over the chest

Any recommendations for this style locally? How much would this typically run for if I paid for the sketches and took it to a shop? I really like this artist's drawings but he works out of Berlin

Good choices for first tattoos! My recommendation would be Ryan Halter at Steveston Tattoo

Hell yeah, Halter all day for traditional, or Jesse Strong does nice clean work too.

I'm booking with Jesse for some lettering in the next few months. Doing a collabo with him and one of my other artists for a "F*ck Cancer" inspired piece in about six months if I'm clear from treatment around that time.

Still got other work to finish but need to get this piece done as it means a lot to my current situation.

Thanks guys, just spent a month in a isolation ward in VGH getting some gnarly high dose chemo and a bone marrow transplant. It was some brutal treatment to say the least. I basically have a brand new immune system now so just have to wait around six months till my bloodcounts are high enough and stable and then I'm back in that tattoo chair!
Get my scan in about a month to see how well the treatment went.

I think this will be my first tattoo that actually has some real meaning behind it.

I actually started drawing while I was in there, mostly lettering. Might post some stuff up later if I think its good enough. If you are into sick lettering work check out the dude Big Meas, guy is on point. Going to be buying a bunch of lettering books from him and BJ Betts.

silly question, but for the people with big back tattoos, how did you take care of it?
I don't have anyone to assist me, so I was wondering if there was any tips to wash and care for the difficult spots.

for me as soon as you finish your sessions you leave the wrap on for at least 6 hours until you can take it off and rinse the ink off your back in the shower. tbh i only used lotion on my back like two-three times in the beginning after that i just left it lol. try not to do anything that requires a lot of sweating cause it could ruin the fresh ink. after you shower just lightly pat on your back to dry

You don't want to take it off right away. At the very minimum you want to leave it on for like 4hrs.

Wont be my first tattoo, but thanks for the info!
I was more interested in how you all managed to reach the difficult places to wash or put on lotion.
Did you just end up leaving the difficult spots unlotioned/unscrubbed or did you use something to wash/apply?

I always take the wrap off right away, my back tattoo was my first one. I put lotion on the backs of my hands and touched them (one over, one under) to get the very middle of my back

... really hard to explain but its like trying to stretch your arms and touch them together lol

I've had my back tattoo for 8 years now unfaded!
