Any thoughts?

I would advice against cuff type tattoos, if you plan to get more ink on the rest of your arm it either looks ugly trying to incorporate a band or it just doesnt work. Instead of blending in it will be a very distinct cut off point. But if you already have a plan for it or plan to only get that tat then by all means! Different strokes for different folks.

WOO. So, next weekend (24,25), going back to edmonton to see refused and get my spring/summer half sleeve worked on to offset the fall/winter one on my left arm. Only have had 8 hours on it so far, and its pretty detailed so its a lot of squiggly lines right now. Should come together pretty well after this, but I'm sure will need probably 2 more sessions. Then 1 month from them my ribs/ass/hip finally get started by Justin Ormiston up in whistler. I should be well on my way to having the upper body filling up by next summer.
This is the only semi decent photo I have so far of this half sleeve. There is some colour and lots more on the inside done which explains the time spent so far.

Hey guys, I have a tattoo coming up on Tuesday, It's $600 for a 5-7 hour session. I haven't gotten work done in around 5 years, How much should I tip the artist? The traditional 15%?

SkinnyPupp 08-16-2012 07:40 AM

Depends on you, your artist, how it all went, etc. That's one good thing about Japanese artists - no tipping! I have given gifts though

wingies 08-16-2012 07:45 AM

what do you guys think of an ex-friends stealing your tattoo idea and getting it done before you do it?

it's happened twice to me,.. i one upped him , best feeeling ever , and the second time (another person) when it came for me to get it done i went with something else and told him that idea is too played out !!...LOL

k00laid 08-17-2012 12:12 PM

lol never happened to me, but fuck I hate tattoo biters. But if you one up him wouldnt it feel weird knowing you have the same tattoo? I dont know how I would feel about getting the same thing. On one hand I guess its kinda tainted the meaning behind it (if you had one) or it has so much meaning you just dont give a fuck.

there are some universal themes when it comes to tattoo. for example dragons, kois, pin up girl, praying hands etc, if you take it to the right artist you should not walk around with the same tattoo as someone else.

Imitation is the highest form of flattery.

What's everyone thoughts on mixing different styles of tattoos? And mixing grey and black tattoos with coloured tattoos?

For example, a japanese sleeve on a left or right arm with black and grey tattoos that have white spaces on the other arm.

I always thought it would look better if someone followed a certain theme for the whole body. (Mainly for aesthetic reasons.)

all personal preference. i have a full colour sleeve and my other sleeve is a more docile looking sleeve (black and grey), with more spaces. but the colour does stand out a little bit more and looks more aggressive

Went in today for a 5 hour session, was suppose to turn http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...9/IMAG0021.jpg
this into a sleeve with more details and to fill in the body. Was suppose to be done today but turned into a 2-3 session tattoo. My wallet isn't going to like this.

The drawing.
