Will look a bit different in black and grey of course, but its a good idea of it. So excited.

this sketch is so nice

his (james acrow) work is very clean. I would rather have him do my Japanese traditional work over jeffs or jesses anyday.

Cleanness is something very rare. many times you see a guy with traditional ink PACKED with whole bunch of animals etc. and it just looks messy.

on a side note i emailed james a week ago or so also, in regard to portrait work and he never even got back to me. that is one thing about tattoo artists that pisses me off, they are flaky as fuck. on most of their websites etc.. it says to email em and most don't even reply back.

tradtional japanese art work is what I like, I was referring to myself.

I never said jeff, jesse or james are traditional..

and with the workload they have, cut them a slack. email again and see what happens. maybe your email didnt sound convincing/serious enough?
since azndesign got a response, I m sure he does check his inbox.

westopher 09-03-2012 11:53 PM

Most of them say if they don't plan on doing your piece, they won't respond. Otherwise they'd end up emailing like 300 people a day telling them they didn't want to do their "live love laugh" tattoos. Not trying to say your tattoo idea is that btw haha.

Yes I know I went to see him already, worded it kind of weird my bad. But I've heard a lot about the whole traditional vs non anyone have a picture of like a dragon or something explaining the differences or something noticeable? Like I've seen some work obviously from looking at pictures and all I really notice myself is sometimes there tattoos look so faded in terms of black and grey but I'm assuming that's not it. Is it in the detail or they way they design things such as flowers or koi scales?

in term of color vs black and bray, keep in mind that no matter ho bright a color tattoo looks right after it done, the colour will mute a little as it heals and it will continue to fade as you expose it to sunlight. black and gray is the same but it will general last longer if your in the sun all the time compare to colour work.

also are you just googling picture off of the internet or are u comparing colour and black and gray work from the same artist? obviously you can't compare apple to oranges

Prior to getting a sleeve a few months back from Jesse I was going to get a back piece from Jeff but I suppose it didn't appeal to him. I emailed him 3 times over 3 months and even attempted to go to his store twice but it was closed. Even tried calling a bunch of other times with nobody answering so I gave up and went to Jesse. I still like Jeff's work but after such a horrible experience in even trying to make contact with the store I've moved on.

really?
I called once before and right away they told me to go in the shop and show them what I want. it was as if they were really interested in working on bigger projects, as I wanted my back done.

but I guess thats a year ago.

dlo 09-04-2012 02:43 PM

its always easier to call/see em in person, half of these guys dont even post up their most recent work to advertise for themselves, so what do you think about em emailing you back? I know jesse from blackwater is horrible with the interwebs/emails, he was willing to pay me 30 mins of tattoo time to do it for him lol

Jeff Tam does a lot of conventions all over the world, thats most likely why he is sometimes hard to get a hold of.
